Percabeth A to Z

C-Candles

They weren’t rushed by the end of the world, they weren’t hiding from monsters, they weren’t at camp; For the first time in a long time there was no urgency, no supernatural, they were Percy and Annabeth. (Though the fine line between the two became blurred as they kissed.) They were humans more than Gods behind Percy’s shut door.
Shivers riveted up Annabeth’s spine when Percy lightly brushed the small of her back. Her blonde hair looked golden under the recently lit candle’s light. They had came into Percy’s room to light candles after the storm knocked out the power. Percy blushed and cracked a bad joke when Annabeth snorted at his underwear still on the floor. That was moments ago, but could’ve been years for all they cared. He had just kicked them under his bed and turned around when Annabeth kissed him. It had started out as a kiss to say, “You’re still adorable.” when it had quickly became so much more. Wherever Sally and Paul were, Percy hoped they stayed forever, as the two of them locked in an embrace and he backed Annabeth up to his desk.
Their breaths were in sync and their movements mirrored each other, just like when they were in battle. Annabeth slowly unbuttoned one of those short sleeved button ups that were popular for boys to wear and wondered if he had put it on just because he knew she was coming; It was her favorite shirt, she loved him in it. Nethertheless, the blue checkered shirt was now forgotten.
Percy kissed Annabeth’s jaw and her body tightened as she stood on her toes to follow the kiss. She found herself sitting on the desk before she remembered even getting there. Just seconds ago Percy had started to walk. Annabeth traced the long scar across his chest, from his time at Camp Jupiter, as he moved his kiss down her neck. He kissed the line on her clavicle, but she couldn’t remember where it had came from. She could on recognize Percy’s body at the time.
She touched the small of his back and the memory of the Titan War flashed through her mind.
Annabeth thought of how she had developed a crush on the smart-mouthed Son of Poseidon during their first Quest together. How she had fallen hard for him by the time they were sixteen. Annabeth also thought of when she almost joined the Hunters of Artemis, and as she arched her spine she nearly laughed. Annabeth and Percy were both so glad that she hadn’t. She never imagined that they would be together, let alone together like this.

Their scars belonged to both of them, they marked one or the other, but they were both of theirs. Right now as they kissed and shared the memory, they reminded them that they were both human. Their parents were God’s but they each had two and one was human. They had legacies to live up to, they had a world to save, human’s to protect. These were what brought them together in the first place but being human was what would keep them together.

The A.C. didn’t work and the candles warmed the room. Annabeth reached her hand back to give herself balance, and knocked over a pencil container. Percy looked over at it, pulling back suddenly.

"A desk, a friggin’ desk." He ran her hands down her legs, and gingerly wrapped them around his waist. She slid forward, closing what little space was between them and kissed him. He walked backwards a few steps and fell back on his bed.

Being human could keep them together as long as it liked to.
