After arriving in Pennsylvania, I just couldn't get over what Scar had asked me. She knew I had a crush on her. It was obvious. I had met her in California, and we had hit it off pretty well. Pretty much, I had met her, talked her into the crazy world we both inhabited and if that wasn't bad enough, nearly got her killed leading her into a cyclopes den.
But Pennsylvania was worse. We walked into a city full of monsters. I noticed, a hyperborean giant, crossing Main street, a flock of harpies soaring through the sky, and even a dragon like vampire. What were those called again? Empusai?
After we made our way through the city, avoiding the attention of the monsters, I noticed the creature following us. It had the head of a lion, the wings of an eagle, and not to mention the look of a predator. Amazed I smiled, to see Scar frightened. "What is that thing?" She wondered in awe.
"It's called a Manticore." I explained. "The beast is known for it's exxtreme skills. It has the speed of a lion, the wings of an eagle, and strength of an elephant. It's quite deadly." I sighed. "Sadly, we are at an impass. The beast never lets its enemies leave willingly. We must fight now. To bad. I was hoping not to draw the attention of those other monsters by fighting, but. . ." I trailed off into slience. With a tug at my sleeve, he pulled out a fulling grown four foot long, bronze broad sword. It had a metalic sliver hilt and bronze blade.
Waving my sword at the creature's snout, it backed up. With a quick slice, my sword scathed the grounds where it once stood. A faint smile appeared on my face, as I charged at it. With a quick sideways stroke, the monster roared in pain. Golden ichor dripped from it's cheek as it clenched its teeth inraged and bewildered. With a quick tailwhip, the beast walked right into a trap. Taking extreme accuracy, I chopped it's tail off.
Painful cries let loose, causing my to drive my blade through it's heart. In a shatter of glass the monster desolved into a soft and golden power. Turning around, I rested my blade on my shoulder. "Like I said, to bad. If it were a real threat, it could've been something else."
Scar gazed at me amazed, yet still her normal self. "What's that on your head?" She asked. I laughed to see a faint green heiroglypgh above my head. It had a cadeseus. It was a symbol of . . .
After a minute, my eyes widened. "Holy mother of Zeus." I sighed. "Well, this means my suspicions were right. We're demigods." I gazed at the floor miserably.
"Zeus? Demigods? Really, like what you were saying before at the chamber." She arched an eyebrow. I nodded. "Odds, are we have to find someone. If my memory is correct, that person would be either a saytr or Chiron, the centuar."
"Ok, so what's next? Do we continue to Brooklyn or find this Chiron person?"Scar asked. I smiled, and then did something really stupid. I kissed her. It was on the cheek, but it still held sentiment and affection. She just blushed and stared at me. Her scarlet red hair was always enough to make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
"What was that for?" She asked a bit apprehensive. I kept the smile on my face, and grabbed her hand. "I just wanted to try it out, on a cheesy red headed girl." Shocked she gasped then she just cracked up and laughed.
"Come on. I'm in a rush, remember let's not run into my mother." I hulled her off outside of town hoping my own mother wasn't home when I got there.
