Percy stalked through Camp Half-Blood hidden by darkness. He wanted to wait for darkness before he moved through the camp trying to recruit members for Chaos's army. He ran over to the Apollo cabin and slipped inside. The whole cabin seemed to glow faintly. Percy could see Will Solace's sleeping form in the back bunk. He sneaked over to Will and planted a hand over his mouth and grabbed his shoulder. Percy then melted them into shadow transporting them to the woods. Percy put his knee on Will's chest and held his arms down. "Who the Hades are you?" Will yelled. "Where are we?" "Shut up Will, I need to ask you something. It's important." Percy said. "Now if I let you go, will you run?" Will shook his head. Percy let him go and he stood up. "You never answered my question. Who are you?" Will asked. Percy pulled his hood down. Will's eyes grew wide, "Percy?" Percy shook his head, "Not anymore, I'm Shane now. Percy died a year ago." "But what about Annabeth? She cries every night at the boat docks." Will said. "I can't worry about that now, maybe one day when all this is over. Maybe then I can come back as Percy." Percy replied. "When what is over?" Will asked. "The great war. Tartarus married Gaea right? Well someone found a way to bring Tartarus' essence out, and enable him to inhabit a body, like Kronos did to Luke. If that is true, then we have to find him and take him down, because he'll be recruiting just like I am. His army will not be easy to take down, I just know it. I want you to be my second in command Will. I trust you, and I need your help. Will you join me?" Percy said. Will thought for a minute, "Yes, anything for you Perce." "Ok, good. Now we need to-" Percy was cut off by a twig snapping and a growl. Percy spun around and peered into the darkness of the forest. He knew there was something there but he couldn’t see anything. He turned to Will, "Do you have a weapon?" Will shook his head, "You pulled me out of my cabin in the middle of the night. Why would I have a weapon?" Percy reached into his pocket and pulled out his pen. He clicked it and it sprang into his sword, Riptide. He gave it to Will. "Something is out there, be ready." Percy said. He drew his sword off his back. It was solid black with little shining dots on it. It made the blade look like a starry night sky. Suddenly a beast jumped out of the darkness. It looked like a mixture of a dog and lizard but it had a spiked tail. Percy spun his sword in the air and the beast started moving in slow motion. Percy stepped up to it and slashed upward in a deadly ark under it belly. The beast fell apart from the middle of its body. Will was staring in awe, "What did you just do?" "Chaos gave me the power to slow down time. So I slowed time down and killed the Lark," Percy replied studying the beast. "Lark?" Will asked. Percy sheathed his sword, "One of Tartarus' personal pets. They do his bidding. He must have sent this one after me. There is probably more nearby. Come on, I'll teleport us to Chaos's sanctuary." Percy grabbed Will's shoulder and pictured the temple. Then the darkness folded around them and they were gone.
