The Demigod Games

Sienna:
I jolt awake to the loud sound of the all too familiar cannon. I sit up, startling Jake awake.
"Stacey? Sophie?" I ask fearfully.
"Yeah?" Sophie asks.
"I heard a cannon."
"There was no cannon."
My racing heart begins to slow down as I hear her response. I crawl out of the shelter, jostling Jake who continues to try to sneak in some extra minutes.
"I think we should stay here. If someone or something attacks, we just have to be ready. We also have to look for supplies." I say as I stand up.
Sophie nods."That would be the best idea. But don't you think it is weird that we haven't seen another tribute other than Xavier? I don't know how big this place is, but it seems strange." Stacey mentions.
I ignore her, and as I look around, I suddenly get the strangest feeling of being watched. I shake it off and pull my attention back.
"Jake and I will go and find supplies. I want you two to guard everything." I instruct.
I watch in slight amusement as Stacey and Sophie's face twist into the same expression of relief.
Jake crawls out out of the shelter. He stands up and yawns. "What did I miss?" He asks.
"You and I are going to go looking for supplies while the girls stay here to guard everything." I say.
"Cool." Jake says. I grab my sword, bow and arrows and knife and Jake grabs his dagger and Logan's sword. We swing our backpacks over our shoulders and we trudge into the forest.
The feeling of someone watching us returns as we are collecting firewood. I try to ignore it until I hear a snap of a twig behind us.
I set the wood down and look around, but all I see is nothing but forest.
Jake notices what I'm doing. "Is everything okay?" He asks.
"Yeah, I just heard a twig snap. Plus, I feel like someone is watching us." I reply, still looking around.
"I kind of felt that too. Maybe it's just the lack of sleep."
"Yeah, it's probably nothing." I say turning around.
I then go back to collecting wood.


Delilah:
I watch Sienna and Jake collect wood. I want to approach them but I'm afraid. I have no food, no water and no weapon. If someone were to attack me, I would be helpless. I'm the youngest and I received one of the lowest scores. When I heard the air horn, I ran straight for the woods, not bothering to get any supplies from the cornucopia. I know there's a water source nearby, but I'm afraid of being caught and killed.
My half brother Collin was killed yesterday, so I can't even go to him. Jake looks like he'll be the easiest to convince to let me stay with them. Sienna can be really sweet, but especially now, she won't trust anyone.
I shift closer and I very stupidly step on a twig and it cracks. Jake continues working but Sienna looks up.
I freeze as she looks in my direction and I'm afraid she sees me.
Then Jake notices Sienna looking around. "Is everything okay?" He asks.
"Yeah, I just heard a twig snap. And I can't shake the feeling that someone is watching us." Sienna says.
"I kind of felt that too. Maybe it's just the lack of sleep." He suggests.
"Yeah, it is probably nothing." She says turning. She goes back to collecting wood.
I sigh in relief and I begin to relax.
Suddenly someone yanks me from behind, covering my mouth. The person drags me away.
I'm about to scream when I hear a voice. "Scream and you die." It hisses. The person grips my shoulders painfully.
My eyes adjust and I see Miranda, the Ares tribute. Her shoulder is bandaged and I whimper as she digs her nails into my flesh. Her brother Caine stands behind her, as well as Marco.
She sneers. "If you want to live, listen closely."
I nod, eyes wide.
"You have to earn their trust. Travel with them, do whatever you have too. Once you've earned their full trust, lead them to the cornucopia. Once there, we ambush them. Understood?" She snarls.
I swallow and everything screams at me to push her away and start running. But I know that I'd be dead before I tried, so I nod.
"Tell them and we 'll kill you." Caine says.
Miranda smiles an eerie smile. "Trust me when I say I'll make your death the most painful thing possible." She says. I stare into her eyes, paralyzed with fear.
Up close, I can tell how truly insane she is.
She then smiles sweetly and lets me go. "Don't disappoint me!"
I walk back to where I was before, looking behind me at Miranda's face. She raises her eyebrow and smirks. When I turn back around, Jake and Sienna are starting to leave.
I take a deep breath and then I step out before them.
