The Demigod Games

Miranda:
I wake up to the sound of the cannon.
It is still dark. When we attacked, it was about 10 at night, but it was obviously later than that, maybe close to 2 in the morning.
"Stupid Sienna." I mumble as I rub my jaw.
I look to the side and I see Caine waking up as well.
"You let them get away!?" I screech.
"Sienna knocked me out!" He protests.
"You had Jake on the floor. You could have killed him at least. Then Sienna wouldn't have been able to fight from grief! Idiot!" I yell. I press my hands to my head. "Where is Marco?"
"Um, I think he was the cannon we heard." Caine says motioning behind me.
I turn and see Marco lying in mud made from his own blood. The wound in his arm was bigger than I had thought.
"Dammit we lost Marco." I grumble.
"Well, we were going to have to get rid of him anyway." Caine says.
I bark out a laugh.
"Oh sweetie, you were the one we were going to get rid of. You were useful while you lasted." I say. I pick up my my broken spear and throw the part that is sharp. It impales itself in his chest and he falls.
"You...are...going...to...re..." Caine trails off. I hear the cannon and I know he is dead.
"Better to travel in a group of one." I say to myself. I get the supplies Caine was carrying, my broken spear, Caine's spear and turn around to find myself face to face with the point of a sword.
"So you turned on your own brother." Percy says.
"He was useless to me." I growl.
"Now, now, no need to growl and bite." Annabeth teases. "Percy, you can put down your sword. She seems harmless."
"I can destroy you." I retort.
"Really? Because your situation isn't looking so good." Annabeth says smirking.
"Should we kill her?" Percy asks Annabeth.
"I have a slightly more entertaining plan. Miranda, you fight me. You kill me, Percy lets you go. I kill you, well, we know what happens then." Annabeth proposes.
"Annabeth no, I'll fight her." Percy says.
"You underestimate my fighting skills Seaweed Brain. This is going to be really easy." She says confidently.
"As if." I say. "But first, Percy has to swear on the River Styx that if I win, he lets me go without killing me."
Percy looks hesitant and looks at Annabeth.
"Just swear." She says.
"I swear upon the River Styx that I agree with your terms." Percy says reluctantly.
"Move back." Annabeth instructs. "Tell us when to start."
She lifts up her dagger and I lift up Caine's spear.
"1,2,3.......Go!"
Annabeth lunges faster than I catch. I manage to stumble back, but she still cuts through my shirt. My stomach stings. It is not a very deep nor big cut, but my shirt starts to soak through with blood.
"Weren't you so sure of yourself?" Annabeth says mockingly. I lift up my spear and charge, but Annabeth whirls around, plunging the knife into my chest.
I gasp for air, as it starts to drain out of me. I start to feel woozy and I fall.
"How.....?" I croak.
"I'm Annabeth Chase. You really never stood a chance." She says.
Then everything fades to black.


Annabeth:
I hear the cannon and I know the deed is done. It is three in the morning, but I feel awake.
I turn to Percy who is staring at the ground.
"Should we keep following Sienna and Jake?" He asks.
I nod. "Right now, as much as it pains me to admit it, they are our biggest worry. If we want to win this, we need to get rid of them." I say.
Percy nods. "We haven't slept at all. We need some rest." He comes over and hugs me.
"I know, but when we get rid of them, there will be plenty of time to rest." I say. I hand him an energy bar and I start chewing on one myself.
"I love you Wise Girl." He murmurs into my ear. "We are getting through this. Together."
"Together." I agree as I kiss him softly.
We pick out the useful supplies and leave the rest in a pile.
Then we go back into the trees, following Sienna and Jake.
