The First Daughter

Lilly's Mother Trouble

For a moment none of us said anything, Lilly stood up in a stand offish way and I followed up not directly behind her but close enough to back Lilly up for protection for her AND Hecate's sakes. Hecate squinted her eyes at Lilly to remind her who is really in power here.

Hecate turned her head and saw Darren sleeping up against Blackjack, who coincidentally was also sleeping, and as if she had an ounce of compassion she floated on her cloud of mist over to Darren. Hecate gingerly took up his chin and observed the bandages, "Ah yes, the creature sent after you. Nasty thing."
I wouldn't have thought that Hecate would have a British accent bu she did anyway. Hecate slowly rose up and looked straight at me, "You must be really powerful to have put him to sleep."
"Oh I dunno." I replied nonchalantly , "That wasn't me, it was your daughter's manipulation of the Mist that lulled him to sleep like she did to the Hunters back at camp."

Hecate squinted her dark and violet eyes at me as if she was reading me like a book, "Don't. Lie to me demigod, for a goddess, as I, can tell when a mortal lies."
I reposition my stance to ready myself if Hecate intended hitting me with something.
But she doesn't throw anything as me but her icy glare turns over to Lilly and a slight smile comes across her lips, "Well done in defeating the Drakon Lilly McWish: you have proven yourself." Hecate's gaze went up above Lilly's head.

I look up and so does Lilly and above Lilly's head floated was three giant sparks of green backed behind a shimmering cloud in a shade of hunter's green. I looked back at Hecate, "The symbol of Hecate I presume?" I arched my eyebrow up.
Hecate looked at me with a smile only to mess me up, "Yes, used rarely since I only have three other children."
"Did you claim them on time?" Lilly asked with a slight snarl in her voice, "Or did they have to prove themselves like I did?"
"Watch you tongue child!" Hecate lashed back, "Zeus and the others may have sworn upon the Styx to claim their children by thirteen, but I haven't. I claim my children when they have proven themselves worthy as my children! You should be grateful that I helped you along!"

I looked over to the sleeping pegesi and Darren but they surprisingly found themselves not to be disturbed as Hecate and Lilly raised their voices in their argument. I was almost too surprised to anything as I watched this Mother/Daughter fight nfold before me: I said almost. My left arm slowly went to my Mother's bow and I slowly readied myself to fire left handed: since my shoulder was still giving me crap. Hecate noticed this and almost laughed, "Young one, I know you don't shoot left handed and a bow and arrow are not my weaknesses."

We just stood there for a long time, but somehow Hecate seemed to have moved on, "Understand Lilly, Hannah: Hazel, one of the Great Seven also one of my pupils, has been taken over by a possessing ghost an in as such as you kill a monster Hazel has gained the ability to raise the monster in a undead ashy form and sent back to their killers, and can only be defeated by magic: A form in which you witnessed with the Drakon earlier.
"Yeah so?" I replied rather rudely.
"I take that remark back when I said, "you respect us"." She said to me and she continued with instructions, "You and your friend Darren must go to Camp Jupiter, seeing as he needs medical treatment."

"And what about me?" Lilly asked.
"You must come with me and train to refine your powers."
"Heck no!" Lilly retorted, "I'm not going anywhere with you!"
Hecate was taken aback for a moment, "I must admit: I am offended by this."
"Why would I go anywhere with you?" Lilly asked.
"Cause you don't understand the power you posses!" Hecate replied.
"Uh huh." Lilly said, crossing her arms, "The ones that I have to prove that I am your daughter?"

'Oh snap' I thought, 'This is B-A-D'
When a demigod and a god or goddess get into a quarrel about something, I find it usually ends desolation, pain, an death on the demigod's part. From what Darren has old me before Percy Jackson is the only exception to that rule. Although Hera and Aphrodite had put him in trouble before but he hasn't died... yet...

"Listen here child; You don't understand the danger of the untamed power that you bear! If you are not careful you WILL destroy everything and everyone around you!"
"I'LL TAKE MY CHANCES!" Lilly yelled, again I was surprised that Darren and the pegesi didn't wake up, "At least with my friends I am loved for who I am! Not for what I can and cannot do!" Lilly turned to me and said, "Come on Hannah, let's pack up and get to Camp Jupiter."

She turned away and started cleaning up camp. I paused for a momement looking at Hecate but it didn't take me long for me to join Lilly packing up camp and while walking over beside Lilly I looked at Hecate, not in a rude way this time but in a "I-Kinda-Know-What-You're-Going-Through-But-Not-Really-But-I'm-Sorry" look.
Hecate got this slight sneer on her face as she was being ignored, "You will be sorry Lilly. And I'll be waiting for you after it's happened."
There was a flash of green light and I turned around and Hecate was gone.
