Starting Over

Home, Damn It

I was never happier to be kidnapped in my life. Okay, I've never been kidnapped before, but anything that could delay me possibly seeing my mom was a blessing in it's own twisted way. Anyway, back to being kidnapped. Argus dropped us off at the train station and we were buying our tickets and the booth girl was staring a little two hard at me. We kind of flirted and I let her lead me away from the girls. Of course, I should of remembered the name Kelli, but she was too cute for me to believe she was a espousa. She was talking and talking and I barely noticed that I was standing perfectly still listening to her. I only snapped out of the trance when I noticed she had fangs. I with drew my sword and said, "You either like vampire teeth or you are not human." Then she attacked. We fought for a while until I noticed arrows flying by. "Get away from my brother you WHORE!" I would have to talk to Fiona about her language later. Annabeth came in and got a few good swings. We would of gotten her, we weren't ambushed. About twenty empousai came and then I blacked out.

When I came back into focus, I was chained up with Annabeth and Fiona and we were dangling about sixty feet in the air. I noticed the empousai below so I whispered. "Are you girl okay?" "Yea, we're okay." "I would be better if I knew what happened to Sunny." I held back a laugh and Annabeth spoke up. "Will find him later. We need to find a way out of here." She took a short pause and began to talk like she had an epiphany. "Tyler, do you think your trance would work on them?" "Yeah, but if you hear me than you'll fall under the spell too." "I know, but I can't hear you if you are sixty feet away. Get Kelli's attention and trance her." "What about after-" "Just. Listen. To. Me." I was done arguing. I had to rack my head, but still couldn't think of a song that would resemble 'let the boy go from the chains.' "For the love of the gods, Tyler, make a poem up and use it!" How Percy could deal with Annabeth's temper and pushy attitude, I'll never understand. But I did come up with a poem to sing.

Rusty chains, pretty girl
Won't you let me into your world?
Kelli dear, let me go free
So we can talk about you and me
I herd Fiona gag and Annabeth groan. "It was last minuet, give me a break." Suddenly, we fell and I was face to face with Kelli. I was glad to see she was in a trance. She yanked me out of the chains and signaled for the girls to go back up. Just as quickly as we got down, the girls were sent back up sixty feet in the air and I was left alone with Kelli. "So, what about us?" she hissed. I knew if she was to stay in the trance I had to sing to her but I didn't want it to be too obvious. I remembered that when Fiona was younger, I would use a sing-songy voice to mess with her. So, I had to use that and hope it would distract her long enough for Annabeth's plan to work whatever it was. "Yeah, you know. I thought you were really cute when you attacked me." I would punch myself in the face later, but at least it was keeping her in a trance.

"Oh thank you! You know, I usually eat boys and collect their bones. I think I might keep you though." Annabeth, hurry with whatever your doing. "Thank you. We could go out sometimes. Well, where is a good spot to go?" "I like the Rusty Anchor. It's this really pretty museum, and the basement is secluded and guarded so-" Annabeth judo kicked Kelli and Kelli fell flat on her face. She tackled me and shouted, "Now!" Fiona began to shoot arrows so fast that gold dust was every where. By the time we got up, Fiona had an arrow faced directly at Kelli's head. "You wont shoot me little demigod. You'll never find out where the oracle is!" "If you haven't noticed, we can manage on our own," then Fiona shot and arrow and Kelli disintegrated into golden dust. Annabeth went to go get our bags.

"Sorry if you were planning on going on a date." "I wasn't, don't worry. How did you guys get loose?" "When we fell for Kelli to let you loose, we had a lot of more room. We slipped through the chains and landed there." She pointed to a catwalk that I hadn't noticed before. "Climbing in those trees and swinging like a monkey finally paid off." I just hugged her, then I grabbed her shoulders and got down to her eye level. "Why did you call Kelli a whore and where did you learn that word?" "Annabeth said it first! Then she said she should of killed Kelli years ago for trying to get with and eat her man! I just copied her what she said! I don't even know what a whore is!" "Fiona, just don't use that word again and when you get older I'll explain it when you." She just crossed her arms and agreed. She quickly brightened up when she saw that Annabeth had found Sunny.

"There's a small path way that leads to some woods. We can stay there until morning. I found some camping gear, we must be in some storage unit." "Perky Package. We're in Delaware and only a few miles from my old house." She just nodded and led the way and we managed to get to the woods. It was dark and we ran until we were sure we had a nice distance between us and Perky Package. After we had set up a fire and a sleeping bags, Fiona wasted no time falling asleep with Sunny curled up against her. "Annabeth, I have a bone to pick with you." "What?" I told her what Fiona said and she was just blushing. "Sorry about that, but you got to admit, she deserved it." "I'm not even going to argue with you there." "By the way, how did you know we were in Delaware?"

"Kelli told me that me that a really cool place to visit near by is Rusty Anchor. It's an aquarium that I use to take Fiona to when we could get out of the house. When you said that there was a path that led to some woods, I remembered that path. I would use it to sneak in here when Mom and I would go on hikes. She made me stop using it when I snuck in and knocked over somebody's stuff and they wanted to press charges." "Cool, but I thought your mom-" I pointed at Fiona and Annabeth stopped talking. I didn't want her hearing anything, yet. "So anyway, do you think that they have Rachel at that aquarium?" "Most likely. Kelli said the basement was guarded and if she knew that then I'm sure if she knew that than-" she was blushing and trying not to giggle. "You realized you just proved my point right?" "I'm going to ignore that comment. Anyway, if she knew that, then that's a good sign." We nodded.

"Hey Annabeth, can you help me out?" "With what?" I pulled out the scroll and gave it to her. "Apollo gave it to me, but I can't read it." She unraveled it and had this huge grin on her face and I could tell she wanted to laugh so badly. "What?" She gave it back to me. "You can't read it because it's upside down. Turn it around." Sure enough, I could easily read the text. I blushed out of embarrassment. I read it out loud. "It's a spell. It's called 'The Sun's Rage'. It says that this spell has to be sung by a descendent from Apollo in order to work." "Wow, not bad. What does it do?" "According to this, it can cause any thing to glow as bright as the sun, but only temporarily" "Well, let's not test that out tonight. You should get some sleep, I'll take first watch. I didn't even argue, I just laid down on my sleeping bag and fell asleep.
*********************************************************************************************************** The fire was out and the sleeping bags were put up. Annabeth was trying to wake Fiona to no avail. "Fiona! Get up!" I was just laughing and Annabeth shot me an aggravated glare. "Why don't you wake her up?" "I can't, trust me. The girl slept through a flood when she was five, I don't think she's going to get up." Annabeth just shrugged and helped me put Fiona on my back. After that, we just started to walk and I led Annabeth out of the woods. I was never more disgusted in my life. The Rosy Café was still right by the woods and there was still stores lined up along the street. Fiona just woke up and began to shake and whimper. I put her down and faced her. "Are you okay?" She was still shaking. I knew that she never wanted to come back here, but it was the best shot to find Rachel. She took deep breath, calmed down, and gave me a big smile. "I'm fine. Can we eat?" That's Fiona for you.

We sat down and Annabeth ordered us some food. Annabeth and I had some hamburgers and fries while Fiona had a peanut butter and jelly. We just finished when I saw a girl around my age with brown hair and blue eyes. Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn, damn...well you get it. I tried to turn my face, but I wasn't quick enough and Angelica saw me. "Tyler? Tyler Henderson, is that you?" She bounced over to me and I got up to face her. Annabeth got up to and crossed her arms. "Hi Angelica." She hugged me and I tried not to vomit in my throat. Angelica was the popular girl and she tried to date me, until I found out she made a bet that she could turn me into a popular kid and I was nothing more than her little project.

"Wow, I haven't seen you in a long time! Rumor has it that you ran away to go and find your dad. Well, is it true?" I really wanted to punch her in the face. "Why do you care?" "Aw, your still mad at me. No one can be mad at me for long? She was twirling her skirt and showing her of her figure with a size-to-small shirt. "I'm not mad at you. I just don't like you." She shot Annabeth a disgusted look and pointed at her while she turned her head back to me. "Let me guess, your girlfriend?" "My cousin, on my dad's side." "Knew it! She's not pretty enough anyway." I swear Annabeth mouthed a curse in Ancient Greek, at least I hoped. "Whatever, don't you have something else to do?" "You won't get rid of me that fast." Sunny barked and jumped on Angelica. She was covered in dog hair and slobber within seconds and she was whining like the spoiled brat she is. "Get this mutt off of me!" Fiona was next to me with her hands on her hip. "Sunny, no. She's not a snack."

Sunny reluctantly got down and went to Fiona's side and growled at her. "You brat! This is a new shirt!" Fiona crossed her arms and stuck out her tongue. "I don't care, you were bothering my brother!" "So you sick you dog on me?" "No, he did that all one his own. He's probably hungry?" "Hungry?" "Yea. The last time some one messed with us, he turned the guy into a meal. I have pictures if you want to-" Angelica broke out into a run like some one said that there was a sale on shoes. We just looked at each other and smiled. "Who was she?" "A girl who tried to date me. She was a huge-" I covered Fiona's ears so she couldn't hear me. "Well, at least she's gone. Come on, lets go to the Rusty Anchor."

"Why are we going to The Rusty Anchor?" Fiona asked. "I got Kelli to tell me where they're hiding Rachel. She's in the basement. We need a way to get down there." Fiona took Sunny's leash from me before she started. "There's a tour we can take that will take us under ground. It's suppose to resemble the depths of the river. I'm pretty sure we can find a basement door or something." Annabeth seemed pleased. "Perfect! We can find out what tour we need to take later. Now what do we when we get to the basement.?" "Looks like were going to have to wing it." I said as I pointed to the aquarium. I could tell Fiona was nervous, but I knew she wasn't going to back down now. As soon as we entered a security guard stopped us. I sighed, "Let me guess, no animals allowed." "Tyler Henderson, Fiona Henderson, we've been expecting you." Well, damn. Three more security guards came up behind us, making it impossible for us to dip off. "Follow me, if you would be so kind." "Do we have a choice?" I snapped. They led us to a set of stairs that had a "Under the River" sign above them, this must of been the tour Fiona mentioned. "Lets go."

We got led down some stairs and past a couple of tours. We came up to a door that said basement and got led down some more stairs. The place looked normal, except for a few details. There was an espousa on either side of a large black velvet chair and the chair's back was facing us. On the other side of the room there was a broken pipe with a steady stream leaving it. Underneath the pipe was a iron cage holding a girl with red curly hair inside. "Annabeth!" "Rachel!" This is Rachel? The Oracle of Delphi's spirit possessed a teenage girl? Wow. One of the security guards talked to the chair. "My lady, their here." A figure stood up from the chair and faced us. She was wearing a yellow sun dress with orange heels. Her hazel eyes were piercing. She had orange hair, half of it was long and the other half was short, but I knew her roots were midnight blue. Fiona was wide eyed. "Children," the woman said. "Mom?" I snapped.
