Delia

A scream left Delia's lips as she scrambled down from the stands towards Beth's limp body. She grabbed the girl by the shoulders and shook her desperately.
"Beth! Beth! Stay with me!" She sobbed.
A body joined her by Beth's side. Strong hands detatched her grip on the girls slim shoulders and rolled Beth onto her back. Through her tears Delia could see sunlight stream into the wound, sealing it and vanishing the blood. Beth moaned and the strong arms rolled her into sitting position. Delia clutched the girl's hands as her eyes fluttered open and Delia impulsively crushed her in a hug.

Beth

Beth was shaken into awareness by a warm sensation in her back, breaking the numbness ' hold on her. She saw two glowing hands appear in the darkness and she grabbed hold on them. They pulled her into the light and she just had time to register Delia's face before she was crushed in a hug.

Later they explained to her that she didn't die, although she was very close. A boy from the Athena cabin, Nic Hansen, had the brains to roll her onto her back so that her mother could heal her before she faded completely. ( Kat seemed to have some history with Nic, but she didn't seem willing to share, and Beth wasn't eager to pry. )
They also told her that she'd won the dagger competition because the other contestant, Gary, had been disqualified for trying to kill her.
It seemed a hollow victory, and she promised herself she wasn't going to compete in the games any further. Instead she was going to spectate, make friends and work in the background, too scared to get back in the arena should that dagger find it's way back into her back.

So... I hope I didn't make you panic too much. I did promise not to kill off my main characters.

Thank you to the wonderful people that commented, you guys are amazing and now I have some ideas for names! Just saying, if last names are weird then I've probably made it up from a random object in a room or a word on a poster, just, yeah. Don't judge me on my last names.
