Two Bodies, One Soul

About Beth

Beth

Beth was in fresh clothes Kat and Lia had gotten her from some nice girls in pink: a purple tank top with a lacy white half-top over it, with some hardly worn jeans. She sipped on hot chocolate as an old man in a wheelchair began to explain why the camp was full of kids with swords and why she had been chased by monsters her whole life. He even managed to explain why Beth's dad never wanted her.

"Beth, have you heard of the greek gods and goddesses?" He asked.

She nodded. She loved reading the old books her mum had left for her, they were filled with greek myths and when she read them she could pretend that she was a hero like Atalanta, not a poor farm girl ignored by her dad. She doubted he even noticed when she left.

"Well, those gods are real. They now live in New York, the heart of the west. And since the god exist, demi-gods do too. Bethany, your mother was a goddess."

He looked at her like he expected her to be surprised, instead she was happy. She really was a hero like Atalanta. It made sense now, monsters wanted to kill her since she was powerful, her mother was never around for her protection, her dad didn't want to be stuck with god spawn for a daughter.

"It makes sense." She said.

He nodded. "Where are you from, Bethany?"

"Connecticut, my dad owns a farm there." She replied.

"Did you run away?" He asked.

"Yes, dad never wanted me so I left, I was chased by monsters until I reached here." She gave him the short version. He didn't need to know why she really left. Not being wanted was only half the reason.

"Well Bethany, until you get claimed by your parent you can stay with the Hermes kids. Did you bring a bag?" He asked.

She nodded. "It's drying."

"Just don't let them steal your stuff. Kat and Delia can show you around properly and get you settled into camp. They should be by the cabins, Delia's teaching ancient greek and Kat normally joins in on the lesson."

Beth went in search of the cabins but she soon got very lost.

"Are you ok, sweety?" A brunette of about 13 asked her. She wore an orange tshirt and jeans like most other campers and she had wide, silver eyes.

"Ummm... I'm a bit lost actually." Beth admitted.

"Where were you tryna go?" A purple-eyed asian girl asked her from behind a pair of glasses.

"The man in the wheelchair sent me to find Delia and Kat by the cabins." Beth told them.

"Come on, we'll take you there!" The perky brunette said, heading off in the opposite direction.

"Tink, you didn't even introduce yourself!" The asian said, trotting after the other girl, Beth trailing behind.

"Whoops!" Tink said, "Sorry, I'm Tinkerbell, daughter of Nike. And yes, my dad was a Disney freak."

Beth giggled, "I'm Bethany, daughter of I don't know."

The asian laughed, "And I'm Annie, daughter of Dionysus."

The girls led her down towards the cabins and handed her over to Delia and Kat for a tour. They left after the girls in pink, daughters of Aphrodite, stopped fussing over Beth's long strawberry-blonde hair and brown/gold eyes.

The camp was amazing!
