Two Bodies, One Soul
Sea Monster
Kat
Kat and Delia decided to take advantage of a hot June day and head back to the beach for a swim.
Kat dove beneath the waves. Feeling the water wash over her tanned skin and aqua bikini, she could feel her pain and her aching heart be left behind her on the shore. She surfaced, giggling with glee, Delia beside her.
"This feels so nice!" Lia said, floating on her back, her stomach showing from between a fushia bikini.
"Agreed!" Kat said, floating beside her.
"Help!" A girls voice shouted from behind them.
They turned to see a girl frantically swimming towards them, fully clothed and chased by a large, green sea serpent.
Delia and Kat exchanged a look, ushering the younger girl to the shallows and choosing the sword charm off their charm bracelets.
"Run until you see kids in orange t shirts." Delia told the girl.
"You're safe now," Kat assured her.
The girl bolted up the hill as the twins turned on the monster.
Their blades flashed in a whirr of blue and pink as they jumped and swerved around the monster, who was diminished to dust within minutes. The green powder was swept away into the clear, blue ocean.
"Yeah, I don't think I'll go swimming for a while." Delia joked.
"Agreed." Kat laughed as they headed up the dunes. The girl was standing on the top of a near dune, gaping.
"We told you to run." Delia said as they neared the girl.
"The blue girl told me I was safe." The little girl said. Kat really regretted trying to be caring at times.
"I meant that you were safe when you found the other children." Kat said.
"Oh, you should have been more clear about that." The kid said.
Kat sighed. "What's your name, kid?"
"Bethany, I'm thirteen." She told them. She looked about 10.
"Bethany, how old are you really?" Delia asked kindly. "You don't have to lie to us, we're friends."
"9" she sighed.
"I'm Katerina and this is Delia, but you can call us Kat and Lia. We're both 14." Kat told Bethany.
"You can call me Beth. Are you two twins?" Beth asked.
"We sure are!" Delia smiled. "Do you know who your parents are, Beth?"
"Well my dad's a farmer in Conneticut. My mum left him with me when I was little." Beth said.
Kat shot Delia a look and they reached a silent agreement, "Welcome to camp, Beth. You're safe here. Now how about we get you some fresh clothes?"
They led Beth down to the Aphrodite cabin to see about some cast-offs.
