The Sound of the River

I'm Stalked by a Spider

"How are we gonna get there?" I asked.
"The car" Joseph answered. "Across the street"
"Well we can't go through the front" Another feather hit the door. "I think that's obvious. We could go out back?"
They nodded and Joseph stood up from his wheelchair. He kept getting taller and taller until he's standing there with the backside of a horse.
"Yeah, alright. Okay." I walked up to the glass back door and slide it open silently with Logan chuckling.

Around us, there's a patio table, a fire pit, and trash bins. Then there's the ones that never get used, they're for compost, and for some reason they never have any. I flip one over and get on my hands and knees, fitting it on top of me. Everything was good until I looked up and I completely flipped, screaming and threw the thing off me. That, of course, got the birds' attention.

Oops.

We ran inside to save ourselves from being impaled by feathers that looked metal, and were probably poisoned or something.
"What was that?" Logan asked, giving me a look.
"Um..." I said, hesitant to answer. "A spider"
Joseph looked at me like he was trying to read my mind.
"Why are you so scared of it?" He asked.
"First of all they're creepy" I noted. "Then all of them have always seemed out to get me"
I looked out the door and the spider was up against it, staring at me. I crawled behind the couch.
When I peeked my head up, Joseph and Logan were giving each other looks like they knew something.
"Come on" Joseph grabbed a bow and arrows (Where he got them in the first place, I have no idea)
We followed him out to the back, after he killed the spider, and he shot two arrows, hitting each bird so perfectly that they fell with one shot. I stared at him, partially because he a centaur, but also cause no one I knew could shoot an arrow; forget about hitting birds in flight with one shot each. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, a lot the centaurs in the ancient Greek drawings and stuff had bows and arrows.

"Let's go!" Joseph shouted, running (or would it be galloping?) to the to the faded red car. The driver's seat must have been magic like the wheelchair, because Joseph shrunk into it just fine. On the way, I looked to the passenger's seat to see Logan taking a bite out of a tin can.
"Really?" I ask.
"Yfwa" He said with a mouthfull.
