Snow

Damage

"You did study for that math test, right?" Mira pestered.
I rolled my eyes. "Of course!"
I had nothing in my head at the moment that related to a math test. In fact, I mostly was trying to keep back my power. Mira had seen my ice power before, but in front of maybe 40 people who mostly hate me? No way, no how. I was relieved when we both went through a doorway and found ourself in a dank, dark, musty hallway that led to our dorm. I stopped trying to revolt against my power, but that had consequences. Immediately, I shot a bolt of ice from my hand into the wall, and the wall covered with frost at it's touch. I groaned, and checked around the hallway to see if any innocent bystanders had been hurt, or even worse, seen me.
"Not again, Selena! I thought you had said you had gotten a hold of yourself!" Mira ran down the hallway to room 15, our room. She shivered as she checked around her book bag, trying to find the key.
"Dang! I forgot the key in the mess hall. Can you open it?" Mira stepped to the side.
I sighed. I didn't need a key, because my ice powers could create a key that fit a certain lock at a moment's notice. For example, that was how I got into the warden's office when I wanted my phone back after she had took it during english.
I swirled my hand, and immediately a key that fit the exact dimensions of the original key appeared. I grabbed hold of it, stuck it into the key hole, and turned. The door cracked open.
"You happy now?" I grumbled as I turned the door handle and opened it fully, causing the door to be encrusted in snow.
"Yes, now can you just not touch anything that is not yours when you get in the room?" Mira got annoyed with me as soon as I touched her pencil by mistake while brushing past her bed.
Heading past her to my bed, I picked up my special pencil. I had encrusted it with snow a long time ago, and when I had to have a special grip to write well, I created a squishy ice grip for myself.

Flopping down on my bed, I could see the stuff I had done to my side of the room. My desk, once crisp brown, was now snow white as the cause of me touching the handles of the drawers many times. My bed had ice decorations I made during Christmas, and I had yet to melt them or do something with them. My sheets were freezing, but they were a comfortable texture and feel for me. A long time ago, I had created patterns on the wall by putting snow on them, and taking wind to make swirls and such all the way across my half.

Mira's side of the room was normal, unlike mine. She had a crappy, broken down bunk bed, with an old quilt that was worn almost to the bone. Her desk was carved from old wood, and was on the verge of breaking down, and her walls were pale gray with no decor at all. I had offered to help her side look better, but she refused because she thought that 'I was a crazy witch who wanted to kill her with my secret powers'. I had spent hours crying in the bathroom after that, but then I learned that because of my difference, people were going to think there was something witchy going on around me, and I couldn't do really a lot about it.

"Earth to Selena! I was asking if you wanted to go over to the mall and get some new stuff during our free Friday time," Mira brought me back to Earth.
I nodded. It was better than spending my free time with Mr. Horil, the algebra teacher. He was always trying to make my life miserable, and now he had finally succeeded.
"So, where do you wanna go? Macy's?" I asked absently, not really paying attention to her answer.
"Better. Victoria's Secret and Tiffany and C.O.!"
I came back to life and gasped. "Do you really have enough money for that?"
Mira nodded and said, "Well, can you at least jazz up Tiffany's necklaces with some of your ice? It'll look prettier."
I was surprised Mira actually wanted to go to the mall in the first place, because most of the time she just wanted to go study in cold rooms. Little did I know my perspective on her would change. She wasn't a Mortal. She was a goddess.
