Everything comes with a price

Jason ran over to Piper and grabber her shoulders
"Piper are you okay? What happened?" Piper was breathing heavily and managed to choke out a few words
"Trouble…Bad…Nicole…Help.'' Piper fainted.
We were all quiet while Piper went back to what ever she came from.
"What did she mean? Does Nicole need help? How do we do that?" Frank asked. We didn't have an answer, all we could do is just go over what Piper said.

"The first riddle
Every one has me but nobody can lose me,
What am I?"
Okay, that seems easy enough. What does every one have? Hair? No there are people who are bald.
"What happens if I guess wrong?"
Piper smiled evilly and said "Well you die of course!"
Seems fair enough I guess. Okay, so what does everyone have? there are so many things it could be; a nose or fingers or eyes, it could even be ears for all I know! But you could lose those so what is it? I looked down at the ground and thought. hmm, then I noticed my shadow. Of course! Everyone has one of those and you can't lose it.
I smiled and told Piper, "Your shadow!"

"good job, now the second riddle!
What always eats but is always hungry?"
That's a hard one.
"Can you give me a hint?"
"If I do then you have to pay a price."
"What's the price?"
"I don't know, I'll think of one if you decide to use a hint which by the way you only get twoof." Nothing is ever easy. But I don't think I can figure this out without one.
Piper started to tap her fingers against her throne.
I sighed "Fine, give me a hint please" Piper smiled and sat up.
"Here's your hint; Your friend Leo has experience with it, you can even say it's also a gift of his."
"What! that's not a hint! I barely know these people!"
"You asked for a hint and I gave you one. Now your price." I felt something cut my right arm and I looked down to see that my arm was bleeding. Then something else cut my other arm and again with the right one.
"Stop that! what are you doing?" My arms are getting cut up by some mysterious knife.
"I'm collecting the price that you owe me."
"Which is what! making me bleed to death!?" The invisible knife was still cutting my arms and now they are starting to get numb. I tried to cover my arms but it hurt to do so. They were now covered in blood and started to pool around my feet.
"No of course not, you haven't gotten a riddle wrong yet. Your price is that you can't use your arms." I got to make this stop but I don't know how, then finally it stopped. I sighed with relief but my arms are still numb. I got to get my head back in the game. The riddle said that something always eats but is also always hungry. The hint was that Leo was familiar with it and it was also a gift of his. I don't know Leo that much so I don't know what it could be. Think.
Leo. Leo works mechanics so maybe it has something to do with that. Then Piper fell to the ground.
"The answer… Fire…" For a second Piper was her normal self then she yelled in anger and stood up. "Stupid girl! She keeps struggling why doesn't she just quit?" Then Piper sighed and said "well she gave you the answer which doesn't count so your going to have to pay the price for that." As she said that I felt a burning sensation on my chest and looked down to see a burning mark on my chest. I screamed in pain and fell to the ground. It went on for a while until finally it stopped, I was breathing hard and looked down and to my wound again. It was a weird symbol I never saw before. There was two circles sitting side by side and a line went throughout them. Four dots wound around each circleand a two stars were also in each circle.
The pain subsided after I told it too and -very shakily- got up. Piper was looking down on me with interest. "Who are you Nicole?"
"Didn't you get the message? No? I'm the girl who is going to get her friend back and kick your butt in the process."
Piper laughed, "Got some spirit in you don't you? Well no matter now the third riddle
I'm tall when I'm young I'm short when I'm old.
What am I?"
For some reason the answer came easily to me. With out hesitating I said
"A candle." Piper seems surprised by my response.
"You seem pretty confident with that answer, are you sure you want to go with that?"
"Yes."
"Your answer is correct, now the fourth riddle
I have no wallet but I pay my own way.
I travel the world but in the corner I stay.
What am I?"
I think about the riddle but I come up with nothing. I don't want to ask for a hint so I continue to think. I have no wallet but I pay my own way, What does that mean? A package? No that doesn't make sense. I travel the world but in the corner I stay, This seems like an oblivious riddle but my mind is not working. If you travel the world and you don't have a wallet but you pay your own way what would you be? If you send something to someone that package wouldn't have a wallet but it wouldn't pay it's own way and it doesn't stay in a corner.
Wait. What would you put on a package? A stamp! It doesn't have a wallet but it does pay it's own way. It travels the world and it stays in a corner! That must be it!
"A stamp!" I yelled at Piper.
"Correct now the last riddle:
We hurt without moving.
We poison without touching.
We bear the truth and the lies.
We are not to be judged by our size.
What are we?"
Uhh, What could that be?These riddles are starting to give me head ache. I was probably standing there thinking about for about half and hour until I finally gave up. I didn't want to but I had to ask Piper for a hint.

"Okay then, the hint: We use them every day and sometimes we must choose them carefully"

Finally the answer popped into my head. It was like some one whispered the the answer to me. Words. It was so obvious that I laughed out loud. We use them every day, they bear the truth and the lies, and they hurt with out moving.
"What's so funny?"
"I know the answer!" I was still laughing when Piper said
"If you know then tell me! Nobody has ever gotten that riddle!"
I smiled at Piper and told her "the answer is words."
Piper stiffened at my response, then slowly she said "how did you figure it out?" She jumped from her throne and onto my pedestal. "I'll say this again. How.Did.You.Figure.It.Out?" Pipers' eyes were completely black except for a small flame that got brighter and brighter with each word she said.
"The answer came to me, now let Piper go."
"You cheated. Nobody cheats me! You are going to die! and so is your friend!"
"What do mean? I didn't cheat!" I didn't know what she was talking about and I was angry that she would accuse me of cheating.
"You did! nobody has ever gotten that riddle right! You must of cheated, and now it's time for you and your friend to die!" The thing that was possessing Piper came out of her and took shape. It was about six feet tall and completely black. It took the shape of a man and had somehow gotten silver knives. The thing started to attack me and Piper at the same time. I managed to make a sword appear in my hands and ignoring the pain blocked the things blow. Piper was not so lucky, she started to get cuts everywhere and was starting to disappear.
"What are you doing to her?!" I yelled.
The thing looked at Piper and yelled back, "She is waking up!" Then the monster put it's full attention on Piper. It raised it's arm for the final blow but I managed to move in front of Piper and raise my sword just as the things knife slashed down. It was painful but I managed to hold my position. I turned around to see Piper open her eyes and then disappear completely. I heard the monster scream and turned back just the thing kicked me in the stomach. I flew back and landed on back, hitting my head on a ground in the process. The thing loomed over me and said
"Final words foolish demigod?"
"Go to Tartarus" I spat at him. The monster raised his knife which grew two feet so now it was as long as my forearm. He was about to bring it down when a bronze knife appeared in his chest.
"What is this?" He asked. The knife came out and when the monster turned around, I got a glance of Piper standing there with the bronze knife in her hand.
"Stay away from my friend."
