Nicolas Evens: The Rise of the new ones

When I woke up, I noticed Liz and Adam talking. Adam seemed to be telling her a story. Whatever it was about it sounded sad, then I realized it was not presicely a story. It was about his life. He told her about his life before being a demigod. Before becoming an arsonist. I didn't say anything, but I did pay attention.

Adam had grown so much throughout this quest, I was proud of him. Considering he was a shy kid whenI first met him. He had changed, in a more mature way. I could even see it in the way he carried himself. Adam was no longer that shy kid afraid of the world, he was now a bron warrior. Ready to take on any force of nature.

When he finished I smiled. I could tell, he just wanted to share something with Liz, but couldn't help but feel like they were already bonded. They were half-siblings. The blood of Apollo churnned in them. They were each other's yin to yang.

"I'm assuming you miss your mom." I murmured defeatedly. "Adam, if you want after this quest you could leave the valley and return to her. You could visit the valley as a seasonal. Winters, Summers and even Spring break could do. I'm sure Markus could accept." I smiled.

Glancing at me, I could tell he liked the idea. Nodding, I turned. "You could think it over while we finish up this quest, first thing's first. Let's make our way through this maze."

For the next mile and a half the group stood quiet. Every now and then, I told Adam a few things about me. Nothing big just qerks and petpevs. When we finally made ourway towards a blocked off cavern, I smiled. Wiping dust off of the frame, I noticed a small triangular shapeΔ. It was the symbol for delta.

"Delta!" Liz remakred. "That's Daedalus's traemark symbol, we're close to an exit!"

"Not just an exit. The exit." I murmured. Willing myself I took hold of the rock as I slowly pushed it out in a crack of dust and ash, the rock bursted into dust. Smiling, I noticed a hatch as I pushed it open, I gazed outside to see an unusual site.

It was the same courtyars from my dream. I saw a swamp and old forest surrounding. Grappling down from a vent in a cliffside, I smiled as I saw a giant statue head of what I believed to be one of the fates.

"Where are we?" Liz and Adam wondered as I took a deep breath. "We are closing in on the steeds of time, once we pass that, we'll be at the Island of creation, where the fates once inhabited. Now they live on mount Olympus, closer to Zeus."

"And you won't make it there!" A voice called from the statue head. Gazing up I noticed a youthful man with white hair and sparkly white eyes. He looked fairly young aside from the white hair.

"Who are you?" I asked filled with fear. This man had a vast amount of life aura. His eyes were white but they held a darkness deeper than time itself.

"That depends on your mind. Some call me Father time. Others call me a Time Lord. For goodness sake that british television series Doctor Who, did that to me. I remember some saying I'm a Time walker other's saying that I am time itself." The man spoke with amusment. "But I go by the name Chronos."

"You're a Primordial." I murmured.

"One of the few that wasn't plunged into torment over the years." Chronos smiled. "I'm only here to observe, but I do believe Nyx reclaiming the earth will wage into a new era. For Mortals and Demigods alike. I seem to like Mortals, they see me as father time, I like that name. Besides they actually have made my job a lot easier. Now, I don't have to travel the world as much. I just jump to the world clock. It's lovely you should visit sometime."

"Why are you here?" Adam asked. "You're a primordial yet, you choose to stop us. You govern time. Why not side with Olympus? I'm sure you'd fit right in."

"Insolent boy." Chronos cursed. In a wave of metamorphasis, Chronos shifted into an old man. Now his white hair had turned gray and was longer. His face was masked by a beard and his eyes looked shattered now. Rather than white, he had grey eyes of storm clouds.

"Hey!" I cried as I reached before Adam. "Chronos, we're not here to fight!"

"You should be." The old man spoke with a weak voice. "Because, I'm here to kill the three of you!" In a lumm of black ore a scythe appeared as he charged at us.Sheathing myself I summoned Reaper. I gaurded the old man's on slought but he still was stronger than me.

Knocking him back, I gazed at my shoulder. He had grazed me? I never noticed he was capable of wounded me. As far as I noticed he never even touched me.

"I'm stronger than you think." He whispered. "I'm not just a being, I am time itself. You can not fight against time! You can not defy time! You just go with it! In life's origin the only people known to defy time are known as the first ones. Khaos. Nyx. Erebos. Ananke. Those are who are capable of escaping my domain! They came before me!"

Glancing at him, I had a feeling he was right. I knew the origin of the world. Everything was kept in an egg and just as thought brim, Khaos emerged. Soon after that he created the stars and the universe which in turn gave birth to earth fallowed by the first pronogenoi.

But this didn't just mean that Time was indefyible. I was sure time wasn't against you all the time. But if I could make him be on my side, the he would help me defeat him. It was tricky but I needed help.

"Adam, summon fire and surriund me with it." I called out. Amazed he just gazed at me.

"You could sufficate. I can't kill you." He murmured.

"Adam, do you trust me?!" I asked.

Nodding, he sighed. In a blaze of fire, I felt a sudden tinge as a magical barrier was summoned surrounding my skin. Smiling, I charged at Chronos, enraged and impowered. In a sudden pull of darkness, Reaper erupted into a umbrakinetic volcanoe of darkness.

Slashing everything in sight, I slowly destroyed the remains of the island. I knew that the only way, I could get Chronos on my side was to either kill myself or prove myself through power, and then I remembered the usefulness that Nyx wanted me.

If she wanted me why would she send people and monsters to kill me. Smiling, I realized why. It wasn't a simple task to bring back powerful demigod alive. Even if I was dead, I'd still be useful in some way.

Which meant that she had a plan for keeping me perserved. In a wave of darkness I smashed through the last collumn destriying a building that over looked the courtyard.

Enraged, Chronos screeched. Waved of sound amplified as we all caught our ears and kneeled in pain and shock. "Enough!" He cried. "I'm tired of you, now you'll be strained to death!" Raising his hand towards me, I felt a sudden tug at my chest as I began to feel weak, slowly my body aged and waved into pain. When my body stopped aging, I felt okd and frail.

I was in my mid to late seventies and could feel the life slowly drain out of me, In a snap of my fingers a fire blazed and then I gasped for air. I slowly was dying. Now, I gazed at Adam with pleading eyes as the fire grew. In a sudden force the flames stopped and then I dropped to ground. This time, my body was normal. I was back to being fourteen.

Tired and weak, I laughed. "You fool!" I screamed. "Did you think, that Nyx would let me die just yet. That pleasentry would probably be saved for last! I'm sure she'll perserve my life until the bitter end. Even until, I get to kill her myself! There is a reason why I'm here! I'm a projection of fear, and I will scare you Chronos!"

Summoning a ball of flame I tosed it before him and it engulfed him. In a blast of stardust, Chronos disappeared. I smiled as I walked over towards Liz and grabbed a peice of ambrosia.

"We've wasted to much time sleeping, let's get going." I said as I nibbled on the block of ambrosia.
