It Started With the Labyrinth
Already Gone
"I'm back!" I called as I stepped into the room. Nico sat in a corner trying to figure out how to knit. So far it looked similar to a dying cat. "I found some meat too. I figured I might be able to start a fire so I can cook it."
"No wonder you smell like death..." Nico dropped the knitting. "Can I help?" He came over and successfully started a fire with the matches we had found recently.
Okay, I should probably explain. We had sort of become a team the day I found him. I hunted. I gathered. I cooked. I basically did work involving food and plants. Every thing else was a disaster if I tried to mess with it. So far everything had gone smoothly. But I knew I had to leave. I had been told what a Helper is and I couldn't bring myself to tell Nico.
Suddenly I heard something that sounded like a man's voice. He was shouting something about Nico. I will admit that I almost panicked.
"Nico, I have to go. Trust me. You'll be alright. Tell anyone that asks that you learned all this from experience." I started to run out of the room, but I stopped. I turned around and said, "And remember this: You need to trust your friends, or it will be your downfall. You will know when to trust them. Just do that for me."
I ran out of the room and felt my body dissolve into mist.
Notes
Yes, I do have to be that mysterious. It's impossible to have a good story otherwise.
