The Wheel Of Time

I got up and followed Percy out the back door. I wanted to ask him what was up with this knew guy, But I didn't know how to word it with said guy standing right next to us. Besides he was Percy's friend. I'd figure it out soon enough.

We walked around the porch until we were at the front of the Big House. I was walking behind Percy and Annabeth and they were walking behind-- I think they called him Lukas, or Luke-- and my mind was wandering, so I didn't notice when they all stopped. I ran face first int Percy's shoulder blade but I managed to keep quiet.

I looked around his shoulder to see Chiron walking up to the porch. Luke was standing at the top of the steps, seemingly frozen. When Chiron stood in front of him, I swear I thought he would faint. Chiron smiled, however, and laid a hand on his shoulder.

"Welcome back." He said. Luke hung his head though it didn't look like he was sad. Chiron looked to the rest of us, probably to let Luke recover a little.

"Are you headed to breakfast? It only started a few minutes ago you should be able to make it before the Stolls take everything to prank someone." He said and turned smiling.

I was a little confused, but Percy and Annabeth looked at each other out of the corner of their eyes and smiled. I followed them when they walk forward again, all of us trailing behind Luke.

I hadn't realized until after I woke up that we had spent the whole night at the big house, so it was eerie to walk through the cabins, and not hear anything except from a distance.

I could hear laughing, and it made me smile. These people had become my family in only three days. They respected and looked out for each other , no matter who they did or didn't openly like.

I looked back to look and noticed that he was slowly slowing down. I only knew this because my pace was the same and i was still catching up to him. I decided then that I wouldn't linger. Percy and Annabeth were more familiar with him than I was, anyway.

I passed him and jogged up the stone steps, passed the thin crack in the floor and sat down next to Jessa, already smiling. She turned to me and started telling jokes; After a minute I couldn't even eat I was laughing so much. She stopped and looked at the entrance then.

I looked up, completely serious now, and watched Percy and Annabeth walk to their respective tables. Behind them I saw Luke, still standing on the steps to the pavilion. He seemed frozen, and so did every body else.

Everyone was silent, you couldn't even hear them breathing. You could hear the a pin drop or the breeze blow through the open air. And everyone was staring. Not one person dare move their eyes off of him. It almost felt like he would disappear if they did.

He closed his eyes and seemed to shake in his place on the stairs. I swear he started to minutely move away, when Travis stood up. Connor followed quickly after him, as they walked across the pavilion. Luke seemed to flinch as each footstep echoed off the stone pillars.

They climbed down the last few steps and stood in front of him. He had his eyes closed tightly and his head almost facing the ground, it was so low. Everyone held their breath as the brothers moved as one closer to him. Luke started and his eyes flashed open as they hugged him.

The rest of the Hermes cabin slowly got up and did the same; I assumed the ones that got up first knew him better, and a couple of the girls were crying. Who was this guy?

then people from other cabins got up and did the same. As each person moved forward those before would let go, and say something to him, and walk away. Soon, almost the whole camp had gotten up and walked over to him.

As people sat back down the quiet chatter started and whispers arose, like they were trying to preserve the silence a little longer. Once everyone was seated again, along with Luke and his siblings, the happy chatter started up again and all seemed back to normal. Soon everyone was finished with their breakfast; laughter rose up over the groups, smiles shined everywhere, and people walked back and forth between different tables.

Chiron lightly tapped the floor with his hoof, and waited patiently as everyone quickly quieted down, and moved to sit with their siblings.

"It's been a long morning. I hate to break up the festivities , but we must get along with our schedules. Shall we?" He said and exited on the question. Everyone moved to leave. We all went our separate ways, moving to follow our schedules.

I didn't think much of any of the training until lunch. Everyone was finished most of the groups moved to the Arena. a rumor had spread around camp that Luke would be teaching Percy a lesson in sword mastery using some of his old tricks. Everyone was excited to see that.

I don't think I quite got the meaning behind this until later, but it wouldn't matter then.
Because oddly enough, Percy didn't end up crossing Luke.
