The Wheel Of Time

Fear of Friend and Foe

I was running as fast as I could. But when I heard it roar behind me, I found I could manage a little bit more speed. I flew past the bushes and trees, making way too much noise not to be followed.

The monster was on my tail. I heard it smash through the brush after me.

I couldn't breath.

I was slowing down.

In seconds He caught up to me. before I knew it, the Lycanthope, or werewolf, held me up to its face, my feet dangling almost three feet above the ground.

I realised at that moment that I was unarmed. I was going to have to wing it.

One thought entered my mind: 'What would they do?'

That didn't help, as He would still have his sword, and She would have at least two back up plans ready by the time this happened.

I decided to go with my instincts. I spat at him. and tried to kick him.

The werewolf roared, more annoyed then anything else. It tossed me up into the air as it wiped off its snout.

I flew up, ten feet higher in the air and would have kept going if not for the branch I smacked into. I heard and felt several ribs break. I cried out.

By the time I fell down again, He was ready, and he was one of those people who like to play with their food. I just don't think he knew how strong he was, when I wasn't fighting him.

As I fell in front of him, He slashed his clawed hand in front of himself, effectively sending me flying a dozen or so feet away, and cutting my front to shreds.

I landed on the ground and rolled until I ran into a large pine tree. I knew I had barely enough strength to move--maybe to walk--But there wasn't enough left in me to keep fighting.I waited for him to come and finish me off, when the ground shook slightly.

I managed to look up and see him pushing at thin air. The barrier. I was closer to camp than I thought. And he over estimated his throws. I used the tree to pull my self up, and turned directly away from the barrier and began to walk down the hill.

I didn't realize I was running up a hill while the actual running was taking place. I just wished I had made it another ten feet, and then the wounds I had now would be non-existent.

After only a few minutes, I saw the camp. I had come out of the south woods near the Arena. I took in the calm sight before me.

I was home.

I walked towards the cabins and found that the whole clearing was empty. The Amphitheater. They were probably still at the campfire. I walked that way. I decided last minute to go around the far side of the mess hall instead of going directly to the campfire.

I didn't know how I would be welcomed. I just need to get to Chiron so I could talk to him and ask him for help.

I made it around the mess hall, and looked up to find streams of people exiting the Amphitheater. I couldn't see Chiron's tall form so I continued to the other entrance on the north side. I walked up to it, thinking little of any sound I was making while getting there.

I was too dizzy to do much thinking now.

I had lost too much blood to be quiet.

I was too tired to worry about what they would do, or what they would say.

The only thing I managed to do was pull the hood up on the grey sweatshirt I was wearing. I walked through the entryway to find three people ready to fight, all of them armed. I knew what they would do If i provoked an attack. did the only thing I could think of. I was already leaning against the wall, so I let go of my stomach and slid down.

I was seeing black spots before my eyes so I could barley make out their approaching forms. One of them-- I think it was a girl, came close and moved my hood back. I heard the sounds of words, but they were dulled, like I was hearing them from under water. The other two came forward and I wanted to cringe but I didn't have the energy.

I shouldn't have worried. the helped me to my feet and carried me out of the Amphitheater, and towards the Big House I think. I saw porch light, and then a hallway, then I finally blacked out.

When I woke up again, it was getting lighter outside. I felt chilled and hot at the same time. Ambrosia. I remembered that it caused a fever if a lot of it was used. If too much was used, you would spontaneously burst into flames.

I managed to turn my head and see Argus. He nodded to someone next to me, and I closed my eyes again.

When I woke up again, I felt better. I was still sore, but the fever was gone and I felt more awake. I tried to sit up but the person next to me put a hand on my shoulder. I laid back down and looked at the girl standing above me. She had bright green eyes, with blue flecks around the edges and dark brown hair. her hair was pulled up into a pony tail. and she wore an orange camp half-blood tee shirt.

"I need to talk to Percy and Annabeth." I said, and they were the first words out of my mouth.

She nodded and stood up. When I heard the door click shut, I sat up and slowly swung my legs over the side of the bed. There was only a thin sheet on top of me, and I pushed it aside with my arm. I looked down to see that my bloody hoodie had been replaced with a Camp tee-shirt, but that my jeans were thankfully still in place, and looked the same minus the scattered leaves.

I stood slowly and then turned to lower myself into the chair by the bed. I had only been sitting there for a minute when the door opened again. I saw movement out of the corner of my eye and turned a little to see Argus leaving the room. I felt nervous after that. His presence had always been comforting, knowing that he was there to keep us safe.

The door shut again, and someone walked a little closer. I heard the footsteps stop and knew that he was still several feet behind me--too far away for either of us to do any damage to the other.

This made me feel better for a second until I realized what it ment:

Whoever they were, they were afraid to be around me.

"I need to talk to Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase. I have to." I said. this person couldn't be Annabeth, from the sound of his footsteps he was definitely a guy; and Percy couldn't have gotten here that fast, even if he was running.

" So I heard." The man said. he was older. his voice was too deep to be younger then eighteen. it held age as well, as most voices do when they have been through everything a demigod has.

"They might not becoming, though," I said, "I don't know why they would."

"Why not, If you are who we think you are?" He said.

"Were you at camp when the Titan war came to its end?" I asked. He couldn't be serious. I should be the equivalent of a first degree murderer.

"No, I wasn't." He said. I nodded and started to say something, when He finished with, "I was in New York, fighting." That stopped every thought I had. He knew who I was And what I have done, I probably even killed some of his friends! And He thinks I am going to be welcomed with open arms?

I turned around to see if he was as angry as I expected him to be, but froze when I saw him. He was tall with sea-green eyes, and short jet-black hair. He was wearing shorts and a blank blue tee-shirt. He had the barest hint of stubble, like he hadn't shaved in a day or so. But I knew who he was. he couldn't be any one else.

"Poseidon." I tried to say, but no sound came out. He obviously saw me mouth the name though. He shook his head. and smiled a little.

Someone knocked on the door, as the confusion set in. It open as He turned to it and a blonde woman stuck her head in the door.

"He's really awake?" She asked and then looked at me.

"I think He's still half asleep though. He though I was My Dad." He said trying not to laugh now. what? She walked over to him and took his hand.

"I told you so." She said.

I stood up and they froze. The still smiled, but I could see the guarding in their eyes.

"Annabeth?" I asked, this time managing to get the word out. She nodded. "Percy?" He nodded too.

Before I thought about what I was going to do, I walked forward and wrapped my arms around Annabeth's shoulders and squeezed. Seconds later, I was standing back where I started; wondering if I had actually just done that, or if I had only Imagined it.

By the looks on their faces I guessed that it had actually happened. Annabeth looked confuse, but not angry; Percy... He looked surprised, but kind of happy as well.

"Do you want some breakfast?" He asked. Annabeth looked at him, then back at me, and nodded.

"How could I... With everyone there... I... No. I need to leave." I said and walked to the door. I opened it and walked out with no problem, but I heard them both behind me. I passed each doorway without looking at it, until a yellow light from one drew my eyes to it.

I saw a girl, dark hair and green eyes, sitting at a table reading a book. I was only five feet from the backdoor, but I froze and stood in the door way. She looked up, and smiled when she saw me. I smiled back. I turned to find Annabeth next to me and Percy behind her.

"Maybe... just breakfast." I said, and both of them smiled. Maybe I could do this. If these two could bear it, with everything I'd done. maybe the others could as well.

Maybe.

Notes

Hey!
Some of these chapters are going to be pretty long, so Its taking me longer to write them.
That along with the end of the school coming up has made it hard to post every week. I will try though.
thanks you guys!

@LCCabin3

All of the above, except not the something not great. And I have NOTHING to criticize. At. All. I LOVE reading this and cannot wait to read more!!!!!

@Frost Wrathbomber, could you elaborate a little on that? I love constructive criticism! But is that an "OMG, how could you?" or a "OMG what's gonna happen next?" or just an "OMG this is great/something not great!" ??????

thanks so much!
