The Wheel Of Time

Fluid Suspicion

I walk to the front door, look back to see that David hasn't followed me from the kitchen.

"You coming or not? We don't want to be late to dinner on Liz's first day!" I said, turning my head behind me. I hear foot steps, and I open the front door as Liz picks up her bag.

"Don't call me Liz." She says quietly, but she smiles at me as David walks up.

"Sorry, but mom would have come to camp to kill me if I'd left the dishes." They smiled at each other, and we walked out front.

"Do I hale a cab?" Liz asked. I grin, knowing that she has no Idea what's coming next.

"Sort of." I throw a coin into the shadow I cast on the road, and watch it sink into the ground. The grey cab materialized in front of us. I looked at Liz, expecting surprise or confusion at least. I was sadly disappointed. She looked... Unimpressed.

"Well, this will get us there faster. But are we going to the docks or directly to the camp?" She said, climbing in. I climbed in after David.

"Rams Point Marina." I said, to answer her, and giving the directions. It was the closest dock - in Rhode Island - to the camp, according to Annabeth. We jerked forward, and then to a stop, less than five minutes later. I got out and hid my unease by laughing at David, who was not trying to hide it at all; he looked like he was gonna be sick, and smiled a little when Liz joined in at his expense. The guy looked like, other than stable earth, nothing could make him happier than having his sister with him.

"We are on boat eight-five-twelve-twelve-fifteen." I told them, and smiled at Annabeth's joke. It was silly, but she thought the little message would be nice... If they figured it out. It personally had taken me ten minutes to understand, and she laughed at me when I told her. But as I looked at Liz, she smiled, a glint in her eyes. She knew.

'Maybe she is Annabeth's sister.' I thought to myself, as we walked down the docks. we stopped when we met the gathered group of teenagers arguing with the dock manager.

"Hey," I said and the group separated to let me through. "Tom, sorry I'm late. We'll be out of your hair in five minutes max. Promise." I said, stepped onto the boat. Tom walked away mumbling something about 'impossible with that many trouble makers,' and By the looks on the campers faces they heard him too. I raised my eyes-brows at them.

"Prove. Him. Wrong." I said turning toward the wheel, and heard them quickly file onto the boat. They all took seats, or stood by the railing, and quietly chatted to each other. I smiled. These kids knew they were safe with me. I loved the feeling. The best way I had ever described it was exhilaration and peace. I had expected Grover to look at me like I was crazy, but he just nodded, a small smile on his face.

"Ready?" I asked, turning around. They all nodded and some of the younger kids replied with their own 'ready.' I turned around and set the auto pilot for camp, and Leo's crazy system carefully steered us out of the marina, only three minutes after tom left.

Soon we were in open ocean, at full speed, due to have site of the camp in less than twenty minutes. I was walking around, talking to the campers, and saying hi to the new comers. I finally stopped next to Liz. She was standing at the rail, by the front of the ship, eyes closed and full blown smile lighting up her face.

I almost asked what she was so happy about, but stopped when I realized I was almost doing the same thing - except my eyes were open looking at her. I felt that she was strong back at her house, but here she was, probably able to take me on. I backed away slowly, and found David.

"Do you know who her parent is?" I asked when I knew there were no listening ears. He shook his head.

"Only that it's her father, and he is at least one of the twelve." He looked at the horizon.

"What do you mean, 'at least'?" I asked He seemed o notice me again, and looked afraid, almost avoiding my eye contact.

"Well, Jasper said that she was really strong at twelve, even without training or knowing who her father was. He... He said that her dad was probably..." He bit his lip in worry.

"One of the Big Three." I said. I was not questioning him, but he nodded just the same.

I had just met the girl, but I was just as worried as He was. It would be great to train another strong demigod, but I wouldn't wish my life on anyone. The craziness, the danger - not just to yourself, but to your family and friends, too. Jason, Nico, Hazel, and Thalia have known as long I had that it was harder with greater strength, not easier.

"There it is!" One of the younger kids whispered excitedly. I got up as we neared and saw the campers on the dock, getting ready when they saw us.

"Everyone get your stuff ready. Any new campers under thirteen need to stick with an older camper until they know their way around. We just don't want you to get lost, or hurt. It is a ton of paperwork, and I will probably be the one to have to tell your parents." I said and watched everyone laugh or smile, as the chaos ensued.

I took a deep breath, smelling the salt water mix with the pine trees. I was home again.

"Well guys," I started, "Welcome to Camp Half-Blood!"

@LCCabin3

All of the above, except not the something not great. And I have NOTHING to criticize. At. All. I LOVE reading this and cannot wait to read more!!!!!

@Frost Wrathbomber, could you elaborate a little on that? I love constructive criticism! But is that an "OMG, how could you?" or a "OMG what's gonna happen next?" or just an "OMG this is great/something not great!" ??????

thanks so much!
