The Daughters of the Big Three

“Elaina… Elaina… Wake up!”
I rub my eyes and sit up. I look and see Accailia looking at me.
“It’s your turn to watch,” she whispers. She waits for me to say something and I tell her to go to sleep. I look at my friends that look up at the stars and try to name the constellations. I can name two.
Suddenly, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and I notice that all of the bugs and few birds have gone silent. I bring out Delta and wake up Drea who is closest to me. She shakes the others and we quickly grab our stuff. They all pull out their weapons and we stand back to back. From the direction I’m facing I see two large glowing ovals.
“Guys,” I whisper. They all turn my way.
“Run,” Jace says. We all turn and sprint in the other direction.
“What is that?” I yell.
“Something we can’t fight off!” Zac yells. “No one’s ever defeated a Nefelex.”
“Where are running to?” Drea asks.
“We’re looking for a rift!” Jace answers. “Any! Just look for one!”
“My question is how that thing got in your guys’ world!” Zac yells.
“The answer is also a rift!” I say. We examine the trees as we run. I look behind me at the Nefelex. Sounds like Netflix. It has the head of a bear with long tusks. It also has six legs which are all of different creatures which I can’t name so quickly. I look back in front of me.
Suddenly, I recognize this situation all too well. By the time I look back it’s too late. Accailia is on the ground far behind us and the monster throws her up with its tusks and swallows Accailia. Zac yells that he found a rift. I scream as watch my friend go. Jace tugs at my arm. Thunder claps and I watch as a lightning bolt goes through the Nefelex. It stumbles to the ground. I fall to my knees and feel the forest floor begin to shake. A crack appears at my knees and stretches to the Nefelex. The crack widens and the creature falls through.
Jace yells something and picks me up and carries me through a rift. I hear thunder clap and see more lightning and then the world goes black.
