The Daughters of the Big Three

Chapter Sixteen

When I open my eyes I look up at the stars then back at my friends. I listen to Zac and Accailia’s conversation when I realize something.
Wait a second…
Wasn’t I here before?
“Accailia!” I run over and hug the crap out of her.
“What the Hades!?” She cries.
I look at Jace. “What happened?”
“Kris sent us back in time.”
“Really?” Accailia asks. “I don’t remember that.”
“You wouldn’t have,” Jace says.
Accailia opens her mouth, but I interrupt. “Accailia, you were dead!” I choke back some tears. “And now you’re back!”
“Wait, but I don’t remember either,” Zac says.
“Neither do I,” Drea looks around.
“Well, I only had a limited time to save my memory,” Jace says. “Then I tried to save Elaina’s since she’s leading us. But I’m not sure I got all of it. Let’s run some tests shall we?” He looks at me and smiles.
“Okay?” I say.
“So, what was the monster that Accailia killed called?” He asks.
“Well, we all remember that!” Drea says.
“Yeah, it was before we time-travelled,” Zac agrees.
“Uh… I don’t think I remember.”
Jace looks shocked. “You don’t remember the drakon?”
“No… I don’t recall any dragons.”
“Well, crap Jace!” Drea looks angry. “If that was before we travelled then you must’ve tried to save the wrong stuff and deleted some things from before and during this quest!”
Accailia looks to me. “Elaina, how many siblings do you have?”
“One,” I say, confidently too. They exchange looks. “What? That’s not right?”
“I mean, all, siblings.”
“Like, not just in this world?”
“For the gods’ sake, Elaina!” Drea puts her hands on my shoulders. “You have three! In this world!”
“Wow, have I not met two of them? Or…?”
“You grew up with those two!” She practically screams. Drea looks at Jace. “This is all your fault! Who knows what other memories she lost!”
“I was just trying to save her memories! I didn’t mean for this to happen!” Jace yells. I see Zac cover his ears and walk away. Accailia looks at me then follows him.
“It’s a good thing you didn’t try to save anyone else’s too!”
“Oh, are you saying Elaina’s memory isn’t as important as yours?” Jace furrows his brow.
“No!” Drea puts a hand on her chest. “No! But you do make it seem ours aren’t as important at yours or hers!”
“It’s just that-”
“What?” Drea screams. “What is it?”
“I just wanted her and I to remember what we had going on so far!” He yells back. That shuts her up. Actually, it leaves her mouth hanging open a bit. Jace turns to me. “Elaina, I’m sorry-”
I don’t give him time to apologize. I press my lips against his and hold him there for a bit. When I release him, he’s staring into my eyes like the most unbelievable thing just happened. “I forgive you,” I whisper. Then his lips return to mine.
