The Daughters of the Big Three

Chapter Four

After everyone got up Chiron told everyone to head to bed. Kids kept looking at me and once I made eye contact they would quickly dart their eyes away and pick up their pace as if I had a disease. Except one kid. He just had his arms folded and was standing a few feet away. When I looked at him he walked over to me.
“Welcome to Cabin Three,” He smiles and gestures with his hands. The boy has black hair and sea green eyes. Like the ‘new’ me. “I’m Percy Jackson.”
“Nice to meet you,” I smile.
“Why don’t you grab your things, if any, and meet me at the cabin over there,” He points to where the cabins are. “It will be pretty obvious which one is Poseidon’s.”
I nod and head over to where I left my backpack by the Big House and head over to Cabin Three. I walk in and see that Percy has brought in another bunk for me to sleep in. I notice how he seems to have moved a bit of his own things to accommodate me moving in.
“Well there you go,” He says looking at me as I walk in. “You can set your stuff down wherever. There is plenty of room.”
“Thanks.”
After an exciting day. I’m ready for sleep. I fall asleep the instant I lay down.

The next morning, breakfast was pretty awkward. Percy and I just kind of sat there and ate in silence. Apparently at meals you have to scrape some food off your plate into a fire for the gods. Then you like pray or whatever.
After breakfast I met up with Accailia. Usually campers will do activities depending on whatever their cabin leader signs them up for. But Percy said I could do whatever as long as I do something.
Accailia and I do some training the rest of the morning, and by lunch, I’m ready to collapse.
“Are you really that out of shape?” Accailia asks.
“No. I’m just not used to working out for so long,” I say.
Accailia laughs. “You’re definitely out of shape.”
After a quick meal we take it easy and sit by the lake. That’s when we saw a girl with dark brown hair sitting not too far from us by herself.
“Who’s that?” I ask.
“I’m not sure. But I think it’s time that you meet some other people,” Accailia says. “Come on.” We walk over to the girl and I introduce myself.
“I’m Drea, a child of Hades.” The girl says. She watches me intently with dark brown eyes. “You’re new, aren’t you? Who’s your parent again?”
“Poseidon.”
“Nice to meet you,” Drea says.
“So what are you up to?” Accailia asks Drea.
“Nothing at the moment,” She looks over to me. “Hey Elaina, do you have a weapon yet?”
“Oh that’s right! I forgot to ask you and help you pick one out, yesterday!” Accailia smiles.
“Um… oh actually,” I pull off my ring and flip it. Making it transform into a sword. “Yeah, I do.”
“Very nice blade,” Drea nods in approval. “You know what this is made out of?”
“Bronze?”
“Celestial Bronze,” Drea corrects. “It will only hurt monsters and other demigods. So don’t worry about hurting any mortals. It will just go through them.”
“Okay. Cool.” I say.
“What’s it called?” Accailia asks me.
“What?”
“Weapons that are older, like from Ancient Greece times, generally have names. I‘m assuming you have an older one since it has magic,” She explains. “Does it have a name?”
“I don’t know,” I say examining the sword.
“Here, let me see,” Drea says taking the weapon from me. She turns it back into ring form and looks it over. “Ah, here we go. Carved in ancient Greek on the inside it says ‘Delta’.”
“Delta,” I say taking the ring back. “It fits. But how did my mom get this for me three years ago?”
“I don’t know. Maybe you can ask her the next time you see her.”
“Hmm, yeah okay.”
I slide the ring back on to my finger giving it another look. Looks like I have another question that just won’t be answered for a while.
