Islands of Guilt

Chapter 13

Annabeth-

Starkweather kid? Whatever that meant Percy's face got paler, but his color soon returned to normal. "Ah yes," He said calmly, but I could hear the slight tension. When you're a daughter of Athena you seem to put together pieces of metaphorical puzzle pieces representing different hints of the complete portrait. "Him...I can take care of him. Boys!-" Percy flung his arm up to point to the sky, then pointed to the sons of Hephaestus and Hades "-Let us venture and solve the problem at hand! We don't want anything troubling happening to Annabeth." He exaggerated my name, and turned to me with his classic trouble-making grin on his face. I roll my eyes.

"Demigods," Isabelle said, "Always dramatic."

"More like sons of Poseidon named Perseus Jackson," I retorted. "Come on, let's go." I walk ahead of everyone to the direction of what appeared to be a fire. Isabelle and Alec soon caught up with me, Alec in deep thinking with his eyebrows scrunched together, and Isabelle with a cool expression but curiosity obviously sparked behind her eyes. Sons of Hades and Hephaestus came next, casually walking along.

"What are your names, anyways?" I ask them, "You're obviously sons of Hades and Hephaestus."

"Nico di Angelo," Son of Hades said, "Thats-"

"Leo Valdez, at your service," Son of Hephaestus said. He switched places with Isabelle and handed me a card. "Here's my number. Call me whenever you want, night or day, I'll answer your call anytime, honey cakes." Leo Valdez the card said. It was otherwise plain, except the phone number underneath it: You can just Iris Message me, I'd prefer seeing your face ;). I scoffed, "Sure..."

Percy, who had stayed behind for no reason, probably to stay dramatic, runs up to the five of us. Right between me and Leo. "Did you just call her honey cakes?!" He says. "That's the worst nickname you could use! It doesn't even fit her personality. She's Wise Girl, duh." I felt a blush creep along my face, and hid it by clearing my throat and pulling out a shield my mother gave me as a present. My shield was always with me, it just shape-shifted into a ring. It had the faces of Phobos and Deimos. The minor gods of panic and fear, who were pretty much Ares' main followers. Like apprentices, I guess.

"A-ha!" Alec stated, with a look of satisfaction. "Starkweather! I remember him, that trouble maker. His name is Gabriel. He constantly rebels against the Law and our quarrel with demigods. He most likely started the fire to burn something like weapons. He's been to the chambers in the Silent City a time or two, so I'm surprised he still continues causing trouble. I mean if Jace was shaken up from it..."

"NO DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH CHAIRMAN MEOW!!!" We all heard being shout out from some where near the fire. I felt the adrenaline rush, and started running towards the cry. Alec ran too, but soon was ahead of me yelling back, "MAGNUS!" We all started running, but Percy was last of course. He took another dramatic moment to stand tall and say, "Someone is in trouble! It is my duty as a demigod to help the being!" Percy rushed up next to me. "So what's the plan?" He asks, breathing heavily between every few words. "I'm trying to figure that out." Then it hit me. Literally. Both an idea, and a flying cat.
