The Children of Olympus: The Final Prophecy

Chapter Two

Charles and I arrived at Cabin 1. It was huge and majestic. Definitely the king of the gods’ cabin. It was all white marble, and gold trim. I was used to my dad’s beat-up workshop. I sat on the only bed in there, and Charles sat next to me.
“So, what do you want to do first?” he asked with a grin. I smiled.
“I want to destroy some stuff.” I said with delight. He laughed, and then he looked at his watch.
“It’s actually time for dinner, we should go to the mess hall.” He said simply. I got up and started to follow him up a hill. “I should probably tell you about the seating chart.” I stared at him.
“What are we, 3?” I laughed. He laughed as well.
“Whoever your godly descent is, they have a designated table. We personally have to sit at a separate table because we are grandchildren of the gods, not children.” He said with a hint of sadness. By that time, we had made it to the mess hall, and there was a huge line for food. Charles and I got in line.
“Why is everyone staring at me?” I said with embarrassment.
“Because you are new, and if you hang with me, then you must be a grandchild of the gods. We are the losers around here.” he said now fully sad. I felt terrible. How was this possible? We had twice the power they did! We should be kings! After we got our food, Charles led us to our table in the corner. There was a girl sitting at the table. It was just us three. We sat down, and she looked at me. She gazed into my soul with her beautiful brown eyes. Her skin was a mocha, but she was still Caucasian. Her blackish hair was long and straight. It was in a tight French braid down her back. She had the look of a fighting tiger. Her eyes were dark brown, and they gave you a stare that could kill. She smelled like nickel. I sneezed multiple times.
“Hi!” she said with ironic pep. “I am Samantha. You can call me Sam.” I shook her hand, and then she smiled with perfect white teeth. “I am granddaughter of Mars and Pluto.” I looked at her with question. She picked up on my body language. “Pluto is the Roman form of Hades, and Mars is the Roman version of Ares.” I nodded. She continued. “After the work of our parents, Greeks and Romans united, and now we have this giant camp. I have both Greek and Roman powers. I raise dead, control metals and minerals, and am a good fighter, or so I think.” She said with happy and pep. For a child of the dead, she sure was happy. “So…..what do you do?” she asked with the same pep. I started studdering.
“Um, ya know, uh, I am a child of Hephaestus and, uh, Zeus.” I said with no articulation. She laughed.
“So you build stuff right?” she asked.
“Yeah, um, I like the shop, and stuff.” I said still nervous.
“You don’t have a Zues ego do you?” she asked with a laugh. I laughed for the first time since I got here.
“Not really. I’m kinda quiet.” I said. Then I got a pounding headache all of a sudden. Charles saw my face, and went into battle mode. Sam didn’t seem to mind though.
“Are you okay?” Charles asked. Then Sam went serious. I clutched my head.
“There is a storm coming. Don’t ask me how I know.” I groaned.
“Maybe we should get her to the Big House. She could use some medicine maybe.” Sam said with command and seriousness. Charles nodded, then he grabbed my arm. He led me off the bench, and then we followed Sam to the Big House. I stopped.
“Stop. I can’t. The pain is worse, the farther we go that way.” I said in extreme pain. Charles and Sam exchanged looks.
“I will go get Chiron, and you two stay there.” Sam said with tremendous confidence. She ran with agility towards the Big House, and Charles took me to a nearby bench. We sat down, and I slumped forward.
“First days huh.” Charles said with humor. I gave a small chuckle.
“Never had good luck…” I said back to him. I then sat back in the bench. I looked at Charles’ curly blonde hair and sea green teal eyes. I smiled. Then Sam came running out of the Big House. She stopped right in front of us, without having to catch her breath.
“Chiron said to take her to Zues’ Fist.” She said completely calm. I stood up and Charles led the way. Sam walked next to me in case I stumbled. Again I stopped. The pain was too bad to continue.
“Stop stop stop. Something bad is going to happen. I just know it. We can’t go anywhere, because anyway I go, the pain is worse than before.” I yelled with frustration. Sam and Charles exchanged looks. Then Sam looked at me with big eyes and a stone cold face.
“You are on fire.” She said with a monotone. I nodded.
“Okay.” I said with a sigh. Then there was a loud boom. Sam’s face went black.
“The barrier.” She said with anger.
“Okay, we gotta get out of here.” Charles said, just as angry. Just then, I ran the opposite direction.
“Silena!” Charles yelled. Then he and Sam started running after me. I felt the pain going away, the farther I ran to the barrier edge. I opened Aegis, and my whole body was covered in fire. I could hear the sky rumbling as I ran. I made it to the edge, and saw our huge problem. There was a minotaur ramming itself against the barrier. I stopped dead in my tracks and my friends did the same.
“Should I go after it?” I asked with a wild look in my eyes. The sky rumbled and I felt so much adrenaline. I ran straight through the barrier and smacked the bull’s snout with Aegis. It shook its head and snarled. I rolled under it’s legs, and slammed Aegis into it’s back. It turned around and roared in my face.
“Hey ugly!” Sam yelled. The minotaur turned to face her. It bounded after her, and she fought with great agility. Although she was doing well, she was getting tired. I could see that.
“Charles we need to help h-“ I stopped when I saw what Charles had been doing all this time. He had created a hurricane the size of Texas. He looked at me with tired eyes, and I ran to him. “We did this once, we can do it again.” He and I smiled as I took his hand. I concentrated heavily on the sky, and the clouds started to churn. Thunder started to boom, as lightening flashed. Sam looked over, and she dodged out of the way, just as Charles and I fixed our attention on the minotaur. It was busted with spark-spitting water, and a few lightening bolts for style. The minotaur then turned into dust on the spot. We both ran to Sam to see if she was okay. She got up and nodded.
“Just a little tired.” She laughed. She had so much courage. I looked to Charles as all three of us smiled.
“This has been a big first day.” I laughed.
“You three!” a voiced boomed in the distance. It was Chiron. “We need to see you in the Big House now.” All of us then turned grave as we slowly walked to the Big House.
