The Ambassador of Athena

Chapter 35 - Coming Home

I can’t remember when we returned home to camp. I helped carrying Johanna to the sickbay. Jessy was already there, waking up when we opened the door. I ignored him, even though I thought I saw a sad expression on his face when we tucked Johanna under the sheets.
I know it sounds stereotypical and lame, but I refused to go back to my house in New Athens. I just wanted to stay with her.

The next morning I woke up when someone tapped me on my shoulder. I slept in a rocking chair next to her bed; someone must have brought me a blanket and a few pillows when I was asleep. The guy who woke me up was the same that has helped me up at Mount Olympus, the blonde-haired guy with the bright blue eyes.
“Good morning, sunshine” he said with a smile. I sighed and stood up.
“It’s ok, I’m leaving.”
“No, stay here. I think its sweet that you want to stay with her. Come, let’s get yourself some breakfast and then you can help me treating her.”

During breakfast I told the guy, who introduced himself as Will Solace, the whole story about how the relationship between Johanna and me developed, broke apart and kind of reformed over the time, and of course my journey to the Underworld. He was definitely impressed, and when I mentioned Nico helping me out he smiled.
“He is a good soul, maybe his fashion taste and his preference for dark and shadowy places give you a wrong first impression, but all in all there is nothing wrong with him.”
His dreamy look made it almost too easy to figure out the relationship between these two, but I decided not to say anything. We returned to the sickbay, where I found to my astonishment Rachel, unpacking bandages and putting them in storage.
She smiled at me when we entered and nodded towards Will.
“Hey Rachel. “ He smiled at her and went over to Johanna. “Thank you for helping me out again. You could get some breakfast for our living punching bag over here”
He nodded towards Jessy, who seemed to be asleep, but I could see a faint smile on his lips.
Meanwhile Will examined Johanna, checked her pulse, her pupil reaction and her vitals.
Then he turned towards me, his expression incertain.
“So, how is she?”
He looked down on his hands and forced a smile.
“Well, if you see it from the medical side, she is awake, her pulse is strong and her vitals are perfect. But she is still in a kind of coma.”
I sighed.
“So what do we do?”
Will looked at me with a sad expression on his face.
“We wait”

Notes

This is an awfully short chapter, and the content is also bad, but I want to give you something to read before I go visit some friends in America. You have to wait at least a week for the next update, but be prepared:
