The Ambassador of Athena

Chapter 39 - Happy

The year flew by, and a lot happened:
I gained residency of Camp Jupiter by Senator’s vote, and since life became boring I started to teach at the local High school, my subjects were Ancient Greek and History. I also became one of the Legionnaire-Trainers at the Fort, teaching the new and old Legionnaires about Mythology and what to learn from it. I could not deny it that some female Legionnaires looked at me slightly too interested during my lections in the Auditorium. I met many new people, and from time to time Johanna stopped by at Camp Jupiter to say hello.
I talked to her the minute after I resurfaced, told her about my feelings toward her and how I realised what they meant.
She just smiled at me and told me that we could have been friends after our breakup, but I cut all bonds between us and retreated in my own world. She tried to reach out, but her friends prevented her from contacting me, since they knew how I thought about her. It is sad to realise that late that you lost a friend by falling in love with her, but live goes on.
In the year Johanna had left she decided to travel the world, find interesting Monsters and collect Intel about them and how to kill them. She even started to write a book, “A Demigods Guide to Monsters”. She seemed happy about her life as an explorer.
When summer came again I spent my time at Camp Halfblood again, helping out with the Kids, most of them who were my students at Camp Jupiter. From time to time I had appointments with the Gods that ranged from hour-long rants about Zeus and his latest affair from Hera to Battlefield-Marathons with Ares and Shopping tours through Milano, New York and London with Aphrodite. After all I was more like the handmaid of the Gods, but that way I could try to influence them, even just a little. For example, Hades showed up unexpectedly at the Día de los Muertos at Camp Jupiter, which surprised everyone, but after he made dancing Candy-Skeletons out of thin air everyone was cheering and the Party was a hit.
Rachel and Jessy ended up together, after many pushes from Percy, Annabeth, Leo, Calypso, Jason and literally everyone else at Camp. They were a really sweet couple after all.
And then, the day everyone was half looking forward to, half fearing arrived: The summer solstice.
