Percabeth One-shots

Carnival

Annabeth only recently admitted to me that she’s only been to about two or three carnivals in her life. And when I asked her how was that even possible, she said, and I quote:

“Oh, give me a break! I was running for my life for most of my childhood!”

So, being the loving boyfriend I am, I’ll just have to fix that. She was over my house on a study date trying to get me to know the difference between an isosceles and a right triangle. I wrote Annabeth a note(which took forever with my dyslexia and all) and slipped in her backpack when she wasn’t looking. It said to meet me at our favorite part in central park tomorrow around four o’clock for a surprise. I only found out she read the letter when she texted me nine at night. It read: Really Percy? What do you have up your sleeve this time? See you at four :). I thanked Hephaestus for his son Leo for making these demigod cell phones.

It was three fifty five and I was waiting for Annabeth at our spot. Our spot was under a large oak tree that was ten feet from a small pond. I was in a deep blue tee shirt with some jeans and black converses. I could barely contain my own excitement, even though the surprise was for Annabeth. A small group of girls were staring at me, but I paid them no mind. After about four minutes of staring I started to suspect they were monsters and reached for Riptide. Then I got tackled from behind with a hug. The only reason I didn’t swing was because I saw blonde hair fly around my torso.

“Annabeth! Don’t scare me like that!”

“Aw, is big strong Percy scared of his girlfriend?” she teased. I took her arms and spun her around and hugged her.

She was wearing a simple peach tee shirt with grey skinny jeans and black slides. Her hair was down, which I loved. Then she took her scrunchie and put it in a ponytail. I still loved it. We leaned in and kissed for a while before she pulled away and smirked in another direction. I noticed that the girls from earlier had dropped jaws and wide eyes. I took her hand and walked in the direction of her surprise. Annabeth kept asking about where I was taking her and why it had to be a surprise. It took everything in me to keep it a secret. With Annabeth, all I ever wanted to do was answer all of her questions and make her smile; like she does for me.

When we were almost there, I slipped my hand out of hers and covered her eyes. With a weak protest about wanting to see where we were going first, she allowed me to lead her through the park. I loved how much she trusted me. With everything from leading her through Central Park to her life, Annabeth never thought twice about it. She trusted me. And I trusted her. Once we got to her surprise, I uncovered her eyes and enjoyed the amazed look on her face. A carnival had come into town yesterday and planned on staying for two weeks. I use to come here all of the time when I could as a kid.

“Surprise! The carnival is in town!” I said. She just smiled and took my hand.

“Then why are we on the other side of all of the fun?” she asked, not even trying to hide her excitement.

We ran into the carnival like two little kids. We rode that ride where you sit down and it spins around while it spins around like five times(this ride is called the spinning tea cups or the twirl-a-whirl). After that I got her to go through the Haunted Mansion. We’ve seen way worse, but for the sake of the people being forced to wear those costumes in that stuffy place, we pretended to be scared. Then we went to that ride where you have to sit in those chairs that are held on by a long cord as the machine lifts you up and down(this is called the Trapeze). Then we hit the Hall of Mirrors, where we laughed like maniacs at our deformed bodies. By now the sun was setting and Annabeth wanted to go on the ferris wheel. I told her to save the best for last.

Then we played some games. At the game where you have to knock down the bottles to win, Annabeth found out that two of the bottom were glued down and I had to drag her away before she attacked the guy. The next game we played was the one where you had to shoot a fake gun at a target in order to win. We didn’t win because the procter was young and tried to flirt with Annabeth. Annabeth shot her gun two centimeters from his face and the guy pissed hisself. My favorite game was when you had to shoot water guns at the tiny target and try to get our car to the top first. It wasn’t my favorite because I could of easily used my powers because I didn’t. It was my favorite because I won and I got this giant fluffy teddy bear for Annabeth.

By now the sun had set, the moon had come out and the fair was lit up. She was hugging her bear with one arm and had the other one wrapped around mines. I lead her to the ferris wheel as we made small talk. Once we got locked in, I wrapped my arm around her shoulders as we went around a couple of times. When we stopped at the top, Annabeth leaned into my shoulder and fluttered her eyes shut.

“Today was amazing. Thanks Percy,” she mumbled into my shoulder. I leaned my head into hers.

“Glad you had fun. We should do this more often.”

“We should.”
