Percabeth One-shots

The Big Scare

Don't panic. Don't panic. Don't panic. For the love of the gods, STOP PANICKING!

However, repeating the message in his head only made Percy more of a nervous wreck than he already was. He hadn't realized how tight his grip was on the steering wheel was until he saw his white knuckles. He loosened his grip and dared a peek at Annabeth in the back seat. She was laying down gripping her stomach and moaning. She still smelled like vomit and Percy could sense the pain she was in. He took a calming deep breath, yet again, and continued driving to the hospital. The morning's event still replayed in his head.

"Percy...," Annabeth moaned. She was so quiet, he was surprised he heard her.

He shot up to see that his wife of three years wasn't laying down next to him. He got up and made his way to the bathroom. Annabeth had been sick the past week and usually went straight to the bathroom to throw up. Percy suggested that they go to the hospital or call for an Apollo camper, but Annabeth's stubbornness prevailed. Today, Percy was not taking no for an answer.

She was slouched against the bathtub clutching her stomach. Her blonde hair was damp from sweat and her gray eyes were dull and exhausted. She was pale and winced with each breath. Percy knelt next to her and gently touched her forehead. She didn't have a fever, but she still looked sickly. The aroma of vomit filled the room.

"I'm taking you to the hospital," he told her.

"Okay," she mumbled.

Percy went to their bedroom and got some clothes for them. He changed into a plain black tee and jeans and grabbed a hoodie and jeans for Annabeth. By the time he got back to her, Annabeth was vomiting again. Percy held her hair and patted her back gently. Once she was done, she huddled over in pain. Percy wiped her face, changed her clothes and carried her bridal style to the car.

“Hang in there Annabeth,” he whispered.

Percy was now tapping his foot impatiently in the waiting room of the hospital. He was praying to every god(excluding Hera for obvious reasons) that whatever was going on with Annabeth wasn’t terminal. He had never seen her that sick before, not even in the depths of Tartarus. At least he knew what was wrong with her then. Now...now, he didn’t even want to think about it. The thought was embedded in his mind and had been on replay.

She’s been sick lately. Why didn’t you do something? Why did you let this happen? If she dies, its your fault.

Percy put his head in his hands and began to take deep breaths. He was not going to let her die. He would personally go to Hades and have that fixed. While thinking of less than pleasant thoughts about Uncle Hades and the fates, the doctor had came out and told Percy he could see Annabeth now. It took every fiber in his body not to run. The doctor led him to her room and Percy wanted nothing more than to punch something right then. Annabeth was laying on her back under the covers in a hospital dress. Her hair spread out underneath her head and her eyes were closed. Her steady breathing ensured Percy that she was alive. He took a seat next to her bed and took her hand.

“What’s wrong with her?” Percy asked the doctor while looking at Annabeth.

“I think that I should tell both of you,” the doctor said.

“Okay,” Percy said, not liking the sound of that.

Annabeth woke up and Percy was sure he was about to jump out of his skin. She gave him a warm smile and he kissed her gently. “Hey Wise Girl,” he whispered.

“Hi,” she whispered back. “How are you doing?”

“I think I’m suppose to ask you that.”

“I’m fine Percy. Where’s the doctor?”

“Right here,” the doctor from earlier came in with a clip board. Annabeth sat up and Percy held her hand a little tighter. “By the way, I’m Dr. Matt.”

“Hi,” Percy said. Annabeth smiled.

“So, Dr. Matt, what’s going on?” she asked.

“A couple of things. You’re going to need to partake in less stressful activities, it won’t do you or the baby any good. Second-”

“Baby?” Percy asked.

“Baby?” Annabeth asked.

“Baby,” Dr. Matt said. “Oh, yeah. Second, Annabeth is two weeks pregnant.”

“Pregnant....” Annabeth had one hand on her stomach and the other one squeezing Percy’s hand. He didn’t mind. At first, both of their faces were just shock. Then the made eye contact, and joy flooded in. “Percy, I’m pregnant! I’m going to be a mom.”

“I’m going to be a dad!” He cupped Annabeth’s cheek and kissed her while placing a hand over the one on her stomach. Dr. Matt awkwardly cleared his throat and they broke apart smiling.

“Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Jackson,” Dr. Matt continued. “So, like I said earlier, Annabeth is going to have to look into less stressful activities. As of right now, you're fine. The mixture of morning sickness and stress caused your body to give out. We can send you home today. And I’ll come back in a little while to check up on you two.” And with that, Dr. Matt left the couple alone.

Percy sat on the bed and Annabeth leaned into him. “We’re going to have a baby. We’re going to have a family,” she beamed.

“Yeah. I can’t wait to meet him or her,” he beamed back. A family. Percy Jackson was about to start a family. He wanted to shout it to the world.

“We’re going to need to get a bigger apartment. Or, a house. Oh, that’s it. Percy, I want a house. We have to tell everyone and then-” and for the next ten minutes, Annabeth would ramble on and on about what they needed to do. Percy’s mind was elsewhere. He wasn’t losing Annabeth. Quite the opposite actually. His Wise Girl was carrying their child. Percy decided against telling Annabeth about him thinking that she was dying. He was sure she wring it out of him later. Right now, he just wanted to be with his alive wife and help her plan their future.
