Percabeth One-shots

You'll Never Be Weak to Me

Even in the hustle and bustle of breakfast, Annabeth couldn't shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong. Everyone was settling down after offering to the gods and laughing and joking. No major monster attacks lately. They weren't in the middle of another war(thank the gods) and no one was missing. That's when Annabeth realized she hadn't seen her Seaweed Brain all morning. She turned her gaze to the Poseidon table, to find it empty. Her heart almost stopped. Where in the name of the gods is Percy? When has he ever not come to breakfast? she thought. Her worry must of leaked through he face because Malcolm followed her gaze trying to see what she saw.

Soon, the whole Athena table was staring at Poseidon's table. Soon the Aphrodite's table followed their gaze, earing a small gasp from Piper. They were soon followed by Hephaestus' table, then Demeter's table and pretty soon the whole camp was staring at the table where the son of Poseidon should of been. The pavilion's laughs and jokes were replaced with an eerie silence. Chiron picked up on this and quickly noted Percy's absence. Soon every eye was on Annabeth. They all knew the last time this happened. Annabeth looked at Chiron, who gave her a knowing nod.

She quickly got up without a word and made her way to the cabins. Her breathing was hitched and her heart was heavy. I'm over reacting. Seaweed Brain just overslept like always. Even if that was the case, he wouldn't be that late to breakfast. Stop it! He's fine...right? Annabeth broke out into a run for Cabin Three. Before she knew it, she was catching her breath at the door of Cabin Three. Annabeth counted until her breaths were aligned and she could talk right. Before she could knock, she heard a muffled sound. She leaned her ear to the door, the muffled sound becoming a bit more clear. It almost sounded like...crying?

"Percy? Are you in there?" she asked. There was silence. She knocked twice with her ear to the door. She hear some shuffling and she knocked again. "Percy, I know you're in there. Come on just let me in."(Frozen reference!!!)

She counted to ten before she just opened the door. What she saw made her feel as if her heart was ripped out and stomped on. Percy was sitting on his bed with his knees to his chest and his head buried into them. His body was cringing as if it were trying to hold something in. She closed the door and made her way over to him, his muffled sobs becoming clearer. She sat down in front of him with her knees tucked underneath.

"Percy," her voice was gentle and full of concern. "Percy please talk to me."

"I-I-I-," he sniffled. Annabeth put her hand on his knee and used her other one to lift his chin.

His face was flushed and warm to her touch. His eyes were dark with pain and misery. Like the roaring waterfalls of the darkest place known. Even though Annabeth could tell he was crying, he still did his best to hide how sad he really was. She cupped his cheek in her hand and stroked it with her thumb. He moved his head then buried it again. Annabeth stroked his hair, a shaggy mattered mess, but he shook her off again.

"What's going on?" she asked, now upset he's pushing her away.

"I'm...I-I-I'm...," he sniffled, "I'm fine."

"Percy, why are you pushing me away?"

"It's for the best," he said holding back a sob. Annabeth was so taken back by that, she couldn't speak for a moment. When her senses came back, she realized that Percy would never say something like that without a reason. A Hades of a good one too.

"We both know that you're what's best for me.

"Annabeth..."

"Don't push me away," she stroked his shin, hopping he wouldn't pull away. He didn't. "I'll always be there. What's going on?"

He cried. Annabeth wrapped him in a hug he soon returned, resting his head in the crook of her neck. She kept one hand on his back and the other one stroking his hair as he cried into her. Annabeth had never seen Percy cry before. He was always so brave and joyous. Of course she's seen him hurt before and she'd seen him upset. But, never like this. With him crying and sniffling, especially this hard, she could barely take it. She knew something was bothering him, and she knew he knew it was killing her to even think he didn't want her with him. She knew whatever was bothering will come out when he's ready to talk. That could be in a few minuets, hours, days, weeks, months or years. All she knew was that she would be right there for him.

"It's okay, I won't leave."

"I-I had a nightmare. E-every-everyone was dead. I just stood there. I let them die. I let you die. I screamed and when I woke up...I was alone. I-I-I-"

"You are never alone. I'm right here."

He just cried even more while pulling her tighter to him. "Y-y-you hated me. Blamed me for their deaths. I was no hero. Then I let you die. I-I-I woke up screaming...screaming for you. You weren't there. No one was. I know it was just a dream and that you were still here. I-I-I just..." he just cried again.

She kissed his cheek and leaned into his ear. "You just what? Tell me," she said as softly and sweetly as she could.

"I just feel alone sometimes. I know I'm not, but...I don't know. Thanks for coming," he said, sobbing less now.

"Seaweed Brain, I'll always come for you. And I know you'll always come for me."

"You deserve better, a real hero. Someone who won't c-" he was cut off when Annabeth moved his head and kissed him. When she pulled away, she put both of her hands on his face.

"You are a real hero. I couldn't find someone better than you. Listen, we all feel alone sometimes. You and I have been in two wars and saved the world like clockwork for years. If anyone deserves to cry a little, it's us."

"I'm weak," he said. He placed his hand over hers and stroked it with his thumb.

"You'll never be weak to me. I love you," she said.

"I love you too," he said. They leaned in and kissed. When they pulled away, they laid down so that Percy's head was in Annabeth's lap. She stroked his hair until he fell back asleep. A little bit later, There was a knock on the door and Annabeth told them to come in. Chiron trotted in and looked at the two of them, a smile tugging at his lips. He planted a hand on Annabeth's shoulder.

"Come and find me at the Big House later. I'll tell Malcolm that everything's okay," he said and then left the cabin.

She just smiled. Percy stirred a little and she just kissed his head. "I'm right here Percy."

"Annabeth..." he mumbled in his sleep and wrapped his arms around her waist She just absently stroked his hair. "I'll be...strong for you."

"Like you could be anything else," she whispered. His eyes fluttered open and he smiled. She knew that he thought he was being slick, but she decided to let it slide. Annabeth slipped his hands off her waist and moved his head. She laid down next to him and buried her head into his chest. He wrapped his arms around her and rested his head on hers. Gods, I love him. They both slept in for most of the day.
