The Muse Search

Chapter 9

Chapter 9
If you have the option to walk across the nation to your destination or get a ride from the muses, choose to walk. There way of getting you to where you want to go is having Erato change you into a love note and have Hermes take you there. It was faster, but a lot weirder. We made it back to camp in a flash. Hermes opened us and we turned back into ourselves. “That was weird, but thanks Hermes.” I said. He just gave me a look and disappeared. I guess the gods still don’t like me. I thought to myself. “Let’s never do that again.” Sakura said. “Agreed.” McKenzie and I said. Then, Chiron came up to us. “I am pleased to see that you all have come back successful.” he said. “Wow, word sure does travels fast.” I said. “Now that your back, we can through you guys a party.” Percy said walking up to us. “Cool, we get a party.” Sakura said. “Yep, it starts right after dinner.” he said. “Why that late, it’s only ten in the morning?” McKenzie asked. “Because the Olympians want to see all three of you.” Chiron answered. “Wow, really?” I asked. “Yep.” Percy answered. “When is our meeting?” Sakura asked. “It is in one hour.” Chiron answered. “Alright, thanks for telling us.” I said.

We all were congratulated by everyone we passed with high-fives and back pats. We split from each other to go to our cabins. I placed my bag on my sleeping bag and used as a pillow. After all that’s happened I wanted to rest. I was alone because the rest of Hermes cabin was out on the lake doing canoe races. (Of course they would always loose to Percy)I laid down for about thirty minutes until I heard a knock on the door. I answered the door to see McKenzie, Sakura, and Chiron there. “You ready?” Sakura asked. “Yep, let’s go.” I said.

We went to the six-hundredth floor of the Empire State Building, which served as Olympus now a days (it’s there, trust me). Chiron couldn’t come up with us because he wasn’t invited, which was kind of stupid in my opinion. Olympus looked awesome though. It was a mixture of Greek and modern architecture. While admiring the place, we went to the big building down the road. When we got to the doors, we just stood there admiring its beauty and size. It had scenes of ancient myths in a one to one scale. “Let’s get going inside, it’s probably not good to keep them waiting.” I said.

The doors opened after we said that and we saw all the gods sitting in their chairs. “You guys are huge.” I said looking at the twelve ten-foot-tall gods and goddesses in front of us. McKenzie and Sakura jus bowed. I followed there example after noticing all the gods looking at me. “Sorry.” I added. “We have called you here to personally thank you for rescuing the muses.” Zeus said with a booming voice. We all stood up strait after he said that. “It was our honor to take the quest in the first place.” Sakura said. “I have a question for you guys if you don’t mind. Are you done trying to kill me now?” I asked the gods. The gods just looked about one another surprised, as if what I said was crazy. “Why would we try to kill you, young hero?” Zeus asked.

“You mean to tell me that you don’t want me dead because of my father, even though one of Poseidon’s own guards, Crios, attacked us.” I said. “Well, uh, okay fine, yes we tried to kill you. So what are you going to do now?” he asked. “Well, I do like most of your children and don’t really want to make the Olympians my enemies, I don’t want to attack you; besides, I can kind of see where you were coming from anyway. Someone new with a lot of power enters the field and you get scared for your position.” I said.

“We would never be scared of a mere demigod.” Ares said (well, more of shouted). “Really, then why did you try to kill me?” I asked. “Because we were scared that you would rise against us.” Ares said reluctantly. “I’m okay with you trying to keep your seats of power, actually you can keep them. I don’t want the pressure of being a good ruler of the world. But, I do ask you to swear on the River Styx that you stop trying to kill me and I’ll swear that I’ll never even try to take over Olympus or directly help anyone to do that of my own free will.” I said. “I admire your guts to try to make us swear on the River Styx, kid.” Ares said. “Well that’s my offer take it or leave it.” I said. Sakura and McKenzie couldn’t even speak because of how I was talking to the gods.

They spoke it over with themselves and agreed to my terms. We did our pact and then they let us leave. I told Chiron what happened on Olympus and he was shocked as much as Sakura and McKenzie were. We got back at around 5:00 P.M., free time had just started. When we got back almost everyone was asking what had happened. I told them that they congratulated us and that was it. I didn’t see it necessary to tell them about my pack with the god. Some were still surprised that I still haven’t been claimed. I just shrugged it off as my dad being lazy (sorry dad).

Dinner came up and everyone was surprised I had fifty raw stakes on my plate along with my normal cheese sandwich and water. I spawned Raion without thinking. Everyone freaked out seeing me spawn a lion from nowhere, I told everyone to calm down and that he was my friend; kind of like Percy’s Mrs. O’Leary. Everyone calmed down after that. I gave him the stakes and he wolfed then down (weird seeing he’s a cat). After we finished almost everyone, even Chiron, went to the beach were the party was going to be. We partied for almost an hour and a half until something happened. The entire party area was bathed in a purple light.

Then I noticed that everyone was looking at me. Well, more of the area above my head. I looked up and noticed a pitch black circle with a ring of purple light around it. “You took your time, dad.” I said. Everyone was confused, they knew that the thing above me was supposed to be a sign of my godly parent, but they had no clue what god it was for. “Uh, yah, I figured out who my dad was on that quest. Don’t freak out when I say who he is, please. My father is Tartarus.” I said.

After that, everyone there murmured to one another. I saw Percy and Annabeth cringe at my father’s name. Even Chiron was surprised at who my father was (which took me for surprise. I thought Chiron knew everything). “Now just because he’s a primordial god doesn’t mean he’s evil. I know Gaea is still fresh in everyone’s minds, but trust me when I say this, Tartarus isn’t a threat; he doesn’t want to take over the gods or wants me to do that either. So please, don’t try to kill me, I had enough things try to kill me on my quest.” I said.

Most of the kids were still against the idea of a son of Tartarus being around. Then Sakura stood up for me. “If you want him gone, then I’ll leave to.” she said. Then McKenzie did it too. “Yah, if he goes then I go too.” Then someone I didn’t see coming at all stood up for me. “Yah, I’ll leave with him as well.” Percy said. “And you know if he goes I go.” Annabeth said. “Me too.” Grover added. That made everyone take a step back. “Why are you guys standing up for me?” I asked genuinely confused. “You’re still a demigod, even if you’re the son of a primordial god. If this camp would ever kick a demigod out just because of their godly parent, then I would never want to be here ever again.” Percy said. “So, will you guys still want me to leave, or can I stay?” I asked the crowed. They all answered with one word, stay.

“Chiron, were do I sleep now?” I asked. “We’ll need to build a cabin for Tartarus.” he said. “In the meantime, you’ll continue to sleep with Hermes cabin.” he continued. “Alright, but now, let’s continue with the party.” I said. We partied until it was time to head back to the cabins. I pulled Chiron aside. “I have something to talk to you about. It’s really important.” I said. He nodded his said to signal he was listening. “The person behind the muse kidnapping was Chaos.” I said. “Why would he want the muses?” Chiron asked urgently. “I have no clue; all I know was that he was behind this. My dad was the one to tell me, the gods don’t even know yet.” I said. “This isn’t good. If Chaos is stirring then that could mean the end of the world as we know it.” he said.

“So what should we do then?” I asked. “Let’s not make this into a big deal yet, maybe Tartarus got some misinformation, but I highly doubt it.” Chiron answered. “Alright, I guess we should get some sleep now.” I said. “Yes that would be best.” Chiron added. I went straight to my cabin, and went straight to sleep.

Notes

Thanks for reading my fanfic, yes this realy is the final part of The Muses Search, but I do plan on having a sequal or two. But, those will have to wait because I won't have a computer for a while and I need to actually come up with the story for them. So this is goodbye for now. ;)
