The new Goddess

'Tess?' I asked. 'Why do you have your hair in a ponytail?'
She turned around to look at me. We were walking for a while now and I'd suddenly seen Tess ponytail.
' I put my hair in a ponytail when I'm sad.' She answered me.
I couldn't help smiling. That was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever heard.
'Do you think it's weird?' She asked.
'No, not at all.'
'So why did you ask it?'
'I don't know.. Just interested or something? I've never seen you before with a ponytail.'
'Okay...' She said and she continued walking.
I walked next to Abby and Callum and Tess walked in front of us. Abby looked really sad. Almost as sad as Tess if that was even possible. I thought back of the night we'd talked about silly things. Just to friends having a normal conversation. Nothing special. Abby was still happy then. There was nothing left from the old Abby now. I put my arm around her shoulder. I wanted to comfort her a little. Callum looked back and tried to put his arm around Tess but she pushed him away. Poor Callum, hopelessly trying to get a little attention from Tess.
We entered a bigger cave, a beautiful cave. It was lighter and there was grass and trees and everything you could think of to make a beautiful place in the nature.
'How's this possible.' I said walking and looking around. I wanted to get an apple out of a tree but Tess interrupted me.
'Dont touch anything!' She said.
'Why not?'
'Because extremely beautiful places like this were always bad in the mythology.'
'So I can't eat this apple?'
She didn't answer me because Callum had gone to the lake to drink some water.
'Callum don't drink the water!' Tess yelled. Callum stopped moving and looked in the water. To my surprise he kept staying like this.
'Callum you can move again.' I said. 'Just don't eat or drink anything. Callum? Hello?' He didn't respond. I could read the worry of Tess face. She looked around if she could see something unusual. Then she looked at a bunch of flowers next to the lake.
Those are just flowers.' I said.
She shook her head. 'Those are not just flowers, and Callum is in serious trouble.'
'Sorry, I don't understand. ' I said.
'Its a narcissi. The plant named after Narcissus. The guy who was in love with his own mirror image.'
'Okay so?'
'Don't you get it?' Abby said. 'Callum looked in the water and saw his mirror image. The curse of Narcissus! Duh!'
Tess nodded. 'He will never get away from that lake again....'
'What?! But he has to get away from there! We have to go on and we can't leave him here!' I said.
'I know.' Tess said. 'I suggest we take a little break so everyone can rest and eat. I think we can do everything here except for looking in the water. Does everyone agree with that?'
Abby and I nodded and we settled down.
