The new Goddess

We were here for a couple of days now and nothing had changed. Callum was still looking at himself in the water. Tess was hopelessly looking for a way to break the curse so Abby and I spent a lot of time together.
We sat under a tree in the grass and we were just talking about mortal things like sports and school. Don't think we were to lazy to help Tess. We'd asked her a lot of times if we could help but she always said we couldn't. So we ended up chilling under a tree, in a beautiful place, in a dark creepy cave not knowing where we were.
I looked around and saw a bird. I'd never seen a bird like that. It was big, as big as a boy. Funny. Suddenly my vision and thought troubled and the only thing I could see or think of was Abby. I bowed in her direction and-
'Oh my gods Finn! What the Hades are you doing! You can't do that! Not after Alex... And it's so recent! How could you?!' She pushed me away. Hearing Alex name woke me up.
'What... What are you talking about? What did I do?'
She narrowed her eyes. 'You tried to kiss me idiot.'
'What?! No way.' I was really confused. I didn't try to kiss her right? Although, I couldn't really remember what had happened the last few minutes. Was I getting crazy?
'Yeah way!' She said. 'Why would you do that?'
'I... It was an accident! I didn't mean to do it!'
'So why did you?'
'I.. It was like I had no choice! I don't even remember what happened last minutes!'
She thought about it.
'Did we offer to Eros yesterday?' She finally asked.
'The bird.' I said, finally saying something useful.
'Bird? What bird. We're in a freaking cave!'
'Yeah well the bird looked like a boy and-'
'Definitely Eros. Common we have to tell Tess.' She reached me her hand and we walked back to Callum.
'Tess!' I said. 'We really have to-' I didn't finish my sentence. Tess sat on a rock, looking at the grass. There were tears on her cheeks. Her hair was still in a ponytail so it weren't tears of happiness. I looked at Abby. What had happened? Slowly we got closer.
'Tess?' I asked. 'Are you alright?'
'Off course she's not!' Abby said and she stood in front of Tess now. 'If you want to talk about it, we're here for you.' Abby said. Tess started sobbing.
'I can't do it.' She cried. 'I can't find a way to break the curse. And- and everything goes wrong! And it's all my fault. If I'd never joined you none if this would've happened.' She was crying now. Tears flew over her cheeks. It was like a river of sadness.
'Don't cry.' I said giving her a hug. She was sobbing in my shirt now.
'Its not your fault.' Abby said. 'And were all really happy you've joined us. Without you we wouldn't have come this far.'
'Yeah and Callum will be fine. I'm sure we'll find a way to break the curse.' I said.
'But Alex will never come back.' She said and she started to cry louder again.
I looked at Abby. This was a hard subject for everyone.
'Yeah but that was definitely not your fault.' I said.
'Yeah Alex was really brave.' Abby said.
'Im sure she's really happy she had the chance to meet you. You changed her you know.' I said but it only made Tess cry harder.
'That doesn't help.' Abby whispered to me.
'Yeah I can see that.' I whispered back.
Tess crying became soft sobbing and then I heard nothing. 'Is she asleep?' I asked.
Abby nodded. 'I think so... She must've been really tired. I guess she couldn't handle it at the moment.'
I carried her to our little camp (exciting out of three backpacks and a jacket) and laid her down. Abby put the jacket over Tess so she could use it as a blanket.
'I think we should also go to sleep.' Abby said. 'We need it.'
I nodded and we laid down next to Tess. Abby fell asleep almost immediately but I kept thinking about Eros. Stupid little boy. I thought.
