The new Goddess

'How do I look?' I asked Mathew.
'Why?'
'Oh just a question.' I said but secretly I didn't want to scare the group I'd I found them. 'You look... Better.' He said.
'Thats good right?' I said.
He gave me a painful look. 'Well, let's be happy you're not dead.'
We walked for a while in silence. We were finally out of tat stupid hole but I still couldn't explain how. And that was really bothering me. How could I do that? And how could I have survived that fall?
Suddenly I saw some black shadows in the blue light of the wall.
'From who are those creepy shadows on wall?' I asked Mathew. I was sure they weren't mine or Mathews.
'τέρατα σκιά' he said.
'Shadow monsters?' I translated.
He nodded. 'Actually it's shadow monster. It's just one.'
'Thats a good sign right?'
'No not really. It means he's really strong.'
'Great.'
I looked around if I could see the monster but I saw nothing.
'You can't see it. Only if it wants to show itself.' Mathew said. I wanted to drew my sword but I didn't have one. Apparently Mathew saw what I was trying to do because he passed me his sword. I looked at it. It was black with silver and looked really deadly.
'Why are you giving it to me?' I asked. The shadow was getting bigger so I guessed that meant the monster was getting closer.
'Im sure you're way better with a sword then me and at the moment we could use a good sword player.' He grabbed a rock so he could also defend himself. The shadow came closer and closer and I stepped back. I bumped into Mathew who stood behind me with his rock. We were standing against the wall now. I stepped forward and tried to fight the monster with my sword but it didn't have any effect on the monster. I hated this sort of monsters. This was the third one I'd met since I'd arrived at camp and they didn't make me feel happy. They made me feel more kind of hopeless. Just swapping there with my sword in the air hoping I would hit something. Suddenly a huge power pushed me back against the wall and I fell on the ground. As if it couldn't get any worse there fell some rocks on one of my legs so I was stuck. I cried from pain and Mathew threw his rock at what he thought was the monster. Nothing. I tried to move the rocks from my leg but they were to big and heavy.
Mathew kneeled next to me and pulled the first rock away but then he stopped.
'What?' I asked.
'I know how we can get the monster away.' He said. I looked in his eyes and saw it wasn't an idea I would agree with.
'He will go if he has a prisoner. Just like he did when he'd captured you, he left your friends alone.' He continued. Suddenly I understood why he hadn't pulled the other rocks away. If he did, I wouldn't let him go. Now I couldn't move so I couldn't let him stay here.
'Mathew I don't want you to go.' I said.
'You saved my life ones and now it's my turn to save yours.'
I grabbed his ankle. 'No!' I cried. 'I can't let you do that!'
He looked me in the eyes and I knew he'd already made his decision. 'Please...' I said, a tear rolled down my cheek. I couldn't lose him. We came here together and I also wanted to leave this place together.
'Theres not much time.' He said and suddenly I realized how close the shadow was.
Another tear rolled over my cheek. Why was I so weak? Why did I cry? I didn't want to cry. I didn't want to look soft. He swapped the tear of my cheek and gave me a kiss on my forehead. 'Goodby Alex.' He said before walking in the black shadow. In a few seconds the shadow had disappeared and I was alone in the blue hallway.
