The new Goddess

30. Finn

I looked around: the hallway was a total mess and the blue light made everything way more creepy. My eye caught a heap of stones. I walked toward it and saw a big stone laying next to it. Abby had followed me and looked over my shoulder at the heap. 'Look!' She said. I looked at what she was pointing at: blood. She kneeled next to it and studied it. I looked farther in the hallway and noticed more blood.
'Its a track.' Tess said who was also looking at the blood. Drips laid on the ground making a track to somewhere in the cave. I looked at her. 'Shall we follow it?'
'I don't know...'
'Yeah what if it's from something evil? Or maybe it's just really old blood.' Callum said.
'No it's fresh.' Abby said.
'Did you touch it?' I asked.
'Yeah we have to do something right?'
'Lets follow it.' Tess said making her decision. 'We don't have a better plan right?'
I nodded and she and I took the lead, Callum and Abby following us.
The hallway had turned green now and was only getting scarier and darker. We could barely see the blood drops anymore. I hoped we were close to the source, maybe he/she/it could help. Suddenly I felt something on my shoulder and I turned around my sword ready to attack. Abby looked at me with scared eyes. 'So- sorry!' She said. ' I didn't know I would scare you! I just wanted to say something.'
I put my sword away, I'd been so concentrated on the things in front of me I'd totally forgotten Abby was walking behind me. 'My bad.' I said. 'What did you want to say?'
Abby didn't talk anymore. She just stared in a corner of the hallway and I realized we were in a small hall with two ways out. Then I saw it, the thing Abby wanted to tell me. I was shocked when I saw it. What was it? It looked a bit like human. It had a white/grey skin and I couldn't see it's head. It slowly raised on it's feed and drew it's sword, a black and silver sword. It looked extremely deadly. Great. It came slowly closer and I saw the skin was full of dirt and blood. I decided it was a zombie and drew my sword. I heard my friends doing the same, the were preparing for a battle. The celestial bronze of my sword lighted up weird in the green light. I hoped it looked as deadly as the sword of the zombie.
It had stopped walking and pointed it's sword in our direction. I tried to see a face, sadly enough I couldn't see it. Well, maybe I was glad I couldn't see it cause I didn't really want to know what a zombie face looked like.
I pointed my sword at the zombie. 'Stay we're you are!' I said and I tried to sound as brave as possible. I'd seen some pretty scary movies with zombies in it and I hoped they couldn't do the things they did in the movie.
'Finn?' The zombie said. I couldn't believe it. Without thinking I dropped my sword and rushed forward to hug the zombie.
'Auch.' Alex said. 'That hurts.'
The others had rushed forward too and gave Alex hugs and told her how glad they were she was back. I could see her face now and she looked exhausted. She looked worser then I'd ever seen her. 'Guys.' I said. 'I think she needs some rest.'
Alex nodded and sat on the ground again, I sat next to her and studied her injuries and I saw the black sword again.
'Did you get it from that guy?' I asked with a little too much disgust in my voice. She didn't look at me but I knew it was a bad subject. 'Im sorry.' I said but she interrupted me.
'Without "that guy" I would probably be dead know.' She snapped.
'Jealous?' Abby whispered in my ear. I pushed her away. I was not jealous. Abby gave me one last look before turning back to Alex. 'Tell your story later. If you want of course.' She said. 'But you have to rest now.'
Alex nodded like she was really glad someone finally told her to go to sleep. She laid on the ground looking at the sky who wasn't there. Then she looked at me and we locked eyes. Something had changed. She looked sadder. Way sadder. Without thinking about what the others would think I grabbed her hand, cold as always. There was a big cut in it and I think it got infected by all the dirt. Probably the other wounds too.
As soon as she was asleep I asked Callum to look at her wounds. He was busy for a time that felt like hours with just looking at all the wounds. Tess sat next to him and tried to help.
I was staring at Alex head, sleeping so peacefully while she was half dying.
