The new Goddess

37. Finn

'Im going to the river.' Alex said.
'What why?' I answered.
'It will just take a second.'
'Okay... Shall I come with you?'
'No no I'll be right back!'
'Are you sure?'
'Yes.'
While Alex went away we sat down under an apple tree. No one said something.
Alex had saved us and then Tess had saved Alex, but Alex couldn't handle that.
There were so many things to think about at the moment and then Tess death made everything just more complicated.
After I returned from the ghosts Abby had asked me why I hadn't wanted to tell my fatal flaw to the group. I had told her that I found it to embarrassing to tell. I'm really ashamed of it actually.
She said that everyone was ashamed to tell it and that we could trust each other and blah blah blah so finally I told her my fatal flaw: jealousy.
I was shown a vision of me talking to a person who showed me a video of Alex and a boy talking and laughing.
The person who showed me the video said the boy was trying to make Alex like him.
It looked like they had a lot of fun, did Alex also have fun with me? What if she liked the other boy better than me?
The person grinned and showed me a map and a document.
'This is what you can do to stop it.' He said.
In the end it was obvious that the enemy used my jealousy to get me on their side. I shivered. Was I really that weak?
'You have to tell Alex.' Abby had told me. 'She has to know.'
But I didn't want to tell Alex, especially not now.
Talking about Alex, where was she? She said she would only be gone for a few seconds.
I stood up and told the others I would look where Alex was. They only nodded as an answer.
I walked down to the river and saw a girl with short blond hair sitting on a stone. Next to her in the grass laid a sword and pieces hair.
'A- Alex?!' I said stunned.
She didn't look up or turned around.
'Alex!' I said again. No reaction. I walked toward her and waved my hand in front of her face. Still no movement. She was just staring at the river.
I kneeled in front of her and grabbed her hands.
'Alex listen to me! I don't know what you just did with your hair and why but you have to listen to me now. It's hard for everyone but we have to move on okay? We are here for you but you also have to be there for us!'
A tear flew over her cheek.
'Hey...' I continued.
'Dead.' Alex said. 'She's dead.'
I looked at the owl on her arm. The skin around it was red, like Alex had tried to get it of with the water from the river.
'What happened?' I asked.
'I- I wanted to wash my hands but my hair was in the way whole the time so I cut it.'
'You just cut it with no good reason?!'
'What does it matter anyway. It's just stupid hair. There worse things to lose in life like....' She didn't finish her sentence and started sobbing again.
'It will be alright, eventually. But we have to move on now. They're waiting for us at Olympus.'
Alex dried her eyes and cheeks.
'You're right. I can't live with the death while I'm alive.'
Two days later we arrived at the Empire State Building in New York. It was huge. I'd never seen it before and it was amazing. It was so high that it was hard to imagine that Olympus was way and way higher.
'Common.' Abby said and she dragged Alex and Callum with her inside.
'600th floor please.' She said to a guy behind a desk. Apparently she's been her before.
The guy sighed and we went into the elevator. Abby pressed a button with "600" on it. It was standing apart from the other buttons and looked also more beautiful.
'There we go.' Callum said sounding a little nervous.
I had heard a few stories about the music in the elevator and how depressing it sometimes was. Those stories were true.
When the doors finally opened I forgot for a moment about everything. Olympus was so amazing.
'Incredible.' I said.
'Annabeth Chase designed it.' Alex said.
'I know.' I said but then I realized that Percy and Annabeth were probably more for her than just famous demigods.
By the time we reached the throne hall there had passed an hour or something. There were so many things to look at!
I took a deep breath.
'Lets go then.'
