The new Goddess

38. Finn

Almost all the gods were there. Also my dad, he didn't smile or said hello, he just nodded.
We all looked around, Alex was studying the faces of the gods. One of them was her mom or dad. Would she finally get claimed?
'Welcome.' A deep voice said, it was Zeus. 'Athena told us you would come. I heard about your quest and about what happened. You were all brave.'
Silence.
'Alexa.' Zeus continued. 'Please come forward.'
Alex looked a bit nervous but did what The Lord of the sky had told her. She kneeled in front of him until he gave her permission to stand up.
'Still unclaimed?' He asked. Alex nodded and looked around. None of the gods made a move.
'And you know that's strange?'
Alex nodded again.
'I know what you did, how you defeated the shadow monster. We know you're really strong and powerful and if you're not claimed, if none of the gods says you're his or her child, then we can't say you're one of us. You could be dangerous you know. An enemy is rising and if you're on their side...' He shook his head. 'We can't take that risk. That's why you have to die.'
My eyes widened and I wanted to protest but there came no words from my mouth. They couldn't kill Alex and apparently Artemis agreed with that.
'But Father Zeus, remember a few years ago when you wanted to kill Percy Jackson? Eventually he saved the world a few times! You can not just kill people because they're powerful right?'
Zeus groaned. 'But this is different. I can feel it.'
Artemis wanted to say something else but Alex interrupted her. How dared she? The other gods were to stunned to be angry so they let Alex speak.
'Its okay.' She said.
'What?' Zeus said.
'Its okay to kill me. If you can save the world with doing that, then go ahead.'
For a moment Zeus looked really surprised. 'Yeah sure.' He said. 'Its better for the world.' His lightning bold appeared in his hands and filled the whole room with electric energy.
He pointed the bolt at Alex.
'No!' I yelled and tried to get to her but two satyrs grabbed me and pulled me back. 'No!' I muttered. I saw that Callum and Abby were also grabbed by satyrs. Horrified they looked at what was about to happen.
No I couldn't lose her again. We never should've had come to Olympus. Why did Alex always have to be the hero? Why did she have to die?
Don't look. I told myself when Zeus was about to strike. Don't. Look.
I looked.
Lightning went through Alex body. She didn't even have time to scream before she fell on the ground. Her lifeless eyes staring at the roof of the room.
Blood flew out of a big gap in her chest.
And then it happened. It was a miracle and impossible.
Alex blinked.
Everyone in the throne room held their breath. The blood that flew from Alex chest was no longer red. It was ichor, the golden blood of the gods.
I was to stunned to move. Alex was immortal? Was... Was Alex a goddess?
Zeus looked at the other gods.
'Can someone explain this?!' He pointed at Alex.
The gods all looked at each other. Athena looked a bit nervous.
'Athena? Do you have to tell us something?' Zeus asked.
Athena looked at Poseidon. What was going on? Athena was a maiden goddess. If they were going to say what I was thinking at the moment then it was really really really weird.
'What?' Poseidon said.
'Maybe you should tell something?' Athena suggested.
'Just say what's going on!' Hephaestus said annoyed.
Athena gave Poseidon a "I told you it was a bad idea" look.
Poseidon sighed. 'Look it was not my fault! It was all so vague and then she was suddenly there!' He pointed at Alex who was still bleeding but had managed to sit straight up. She raised her eyebrows.
'So you're my dad and Athena is my mom?' She asked.
'What?!' Athena said surprised. 'Me? The goddess of wisdom?! With an idiot like Poseidon?!'
'Hey!' Poseidon laughed.
'Its not funny!'
'No I know but just the idea that you and I...' He didn't finish his sentence and continued laughing.
'But,' Apollo said, 'if Athena is not her mother, who is it?'
Poseidon stopped laughing and his face was all serious again.
'Like I said, it wasn't my fault. It was Eros fault. He made me fall for her. Now she's getting stronger and stronger. Especially now, when Alexa is also getting stronger by knowing who she is. It was all part of khiones plan.'
'WHAT?!' Zeus yelled. 'AGAIN?!'
'Again?' Alex repeated. 'Does that mean I have a sibling?'
'No he's dead.'
'How?'
'Not important at the moment.'
'Anyway, it explains the ice.' Alex said. 'Water and the cold. But why can I read people's memory?'
'You can?' Zeus said.
'No way.' Poseidon said. 'That was not part of the plan.'
'After you were born, Poseidon took you to me and told me everything.' Athena said. 'Of course he asked me to help him and we thought it would maybe be useful to give you some brains.'
'You already had brains but Athena thought it would be cruel to give a child my brains. So she blessed you.' Poseidon said.
'Id never had blessed a child of two immortals before and we had no idea how it would turn out. We thought that if you maybe had a normal live you could maybe just live as a demigod and no one would find out. Of course I knew that was not possible but we had to try something. I didn't know that it would turn out like this.'
'Anyway, I took you to my son Percy Jackson and he and Annabeth were so kind to take care for you for a while. After that I put you in a orphanage because there was nothing that had to do with the gods.
Unfortunately you ran away a year ago or something and went to camp halfblood and found out about everything.'
'Welcome to the family.' Hera grinned.
Alex suddenly looked really angry. She stood up and faced the goddess. 'You.'
