Not So Average Now
Just the Beginning
My thick framed black glasses fall to the brim of my nose as I try to focus on the work, try at least. My eyes dart from the clock and my class work. 3x-11=7. '7 plus 11 is 18, 18 divided by...' My eyes dart to the clock hanging on the wall, three minutes left of school. I try to focus on my class work once again, where was I? I heave a sigh. '11-7...'
My thoughts are interrupted by the bell. I groan and stand. I should have finished my work, but I want out of school so badly. I put my school bag strap onto my shoulder and place my class work on the pile. As begin to follow the rest of the kids, "Miss Jace? Mind staying behind for a moment?" Ms. Clayton asks.
I shake my head and walk up to her desk, "Klaire, your grades are slipping. I need you to get this interim report signed by your parents."
I look down, remembering that my parents aren't around anymore. I nod. I take the white paper and exit the classroom.
