The Runner
Acrobat
A Month Later
I woke up in the Hermes cabin, cold and trembling from yet another nightmare. As I got dressed, I did my best to put the fear of my horrible trip to camp out of my mind. Since then I had more or less settled into life as a demigod, albeit an unclaimed one.
I slipped on a CHB shirt, black skinny jeans and combat boots before slipping my gun into the holster hooked on my belt. I grabbed my black leather jacket off a hook on my way out, it still had rips on the sleeves from the branches that I had been meaning to fix for weeks.
I quietly opened the cabin door and slipped out noiselessly, careful not to wake the sleeping Hermes children. I shut the door slowly before dashing to the arena.
I opened the door, careful not to disturb the swords and shut it with a sigh. I grabbed one of the swords off the wall and started to attack a dummy. Parry, jab, push, duck.
I soon moved onto sparring with an invisible partner, stirring up dust as I sped around the room. My ADHD is probably the worst Camp Half-Blood had ever seen. I had to be constantly moving; I kicked and rolled around in my sleep, I fidgeted in class, I never stopped talking; I had to keep my mind occupied all the time!
I was swinging from the ceiling beams like an acrobat when I heard the door open.
"What the Hades are you doing?" A voice asked behind me, the confusion and sarcasm not lost on me.
I flipped down. "What's it to you? I'm just practicing. I'm an early riser!"
"No kidding!" He rolled his eyes, shaking his head in disbelief.
I rolled my eyes back. "What're you doing up? I didn't think you got up so early!"
He sighed and shook his head. "Cordelia, I heard you go out. You may think you're a daughter of Hermes, but you're so not."
"Do you have to bring that up?"
"Yep."
I sighed. "Just leave me alone, Jim." I turned around and walked to the back of the room, leaping up onto the stack of boxes and pads. I jumped up and grabbed a beam, swinging myself up onto the next one, my dark hair flying everywhere.
Jim laughed loudly. "So that's how you get up there? Man, if anyone else finds out." He doubled over laughing though I really didn't see the humour in it. I pulled out some old shades I had found in the back of the weapons room a few weeks ago. They had the wicked cool ability to turn me invisible that had taken me a while to find out... but that's another story.
"What the Hades? Where did you go?" He looked around the room searchingly while I jumped down from the rafters, landing softly and sneaking up behind him.
"BOO!" I yelled right in his ear.
He literally flew three feet in the air and sat on the floor looking very unimpressed while I laughed hysterically, my shades in hand.
"Now THAT, was funny!" I laughed and hiccuped.
He looked at me angrily and stormed out, leaving me alone with my laughs bouncing off the walls.
