The Runner
Blossoming
The air was painted with arcs of red and blue shooting through the air, each landing with a resounding 'THWACK' as it slammed into its target and painted the ground as vibrantly as the sky.
And hurting.
My advice; never play paintball when you bruise easily. I winced as another stuck me in the shoulder and I rolled around the road block I was hiding behind to return fire on Jasmine, my red bullets shooting towards her right on point.
And then something happened that I didn't really expect. The red ammunition turning in midair to shoot straight back at me. I dove behind the road block and took cover but one nailed me in the back.
I stuck my head out to look at Jasmine who had a hand raised to protect her face. Ignoring the game, I walked out into the open, led by my curiosity. Kaia shot me in the side and let out a mocking cheer but I ignored the blossoming bruise and stared at Jasmine, both of us still in shock.
"How did- how did you do that?" I asked.
She was still staring at her hand in horror. "I wish I knew." She answered sullenly.
