The Cold Summer

Okay, so let's start on the first day.


When we went to the dining hall that morning, we sat by our friend Capitola, since we ARE all in the Hermes cabin. She has frizzy red hair and sea blue eyes. Like us, she hasn't been claimed yet.

"Hey Kliyah, hey Nixie." She said with a small wave, and went back to eating her eggs.

"Hey." We both said in unison.

"Uh, Kliyah? Whats up with the gloves?" She asked with her mouth stuffed.

I ignored the question, and sat down and asked for Gluten-Free pancakes with peanut butter syrup, sausage links, and three fried eggs. Nixie had the same thing. I dug in, looking around at the other campers. Most of them were laughing and talking to their siblings.

"Hey, I was wondering if ya'll wanted to meet some friends of mine. When were done eating?" She asked, taking a bite of the crunchy greasy bacon. (Echo is now happy.)

"Sure! Although, we already met Travis and Connor. They woke us up by drenching us with ice water." Nixie said, touching her wet hair.

"Oh. I thought you had taken showers." She said with a smile and a giggle.


After breakfast, she took us to the Poseidon cabin. Capitola knocked on the door then opened it and called, "Percy?"

"Yeah. Come in." I heard a male voice call.

When we walked in I saw a boy,probably 17 or 18 years old, sitting on a bed reading. Once we were standing right next to his bed, he finally looked up from his book.

"Good book?" I asked.

"Yeah." He said with a nod.

"Uh, Percy? This is Kliyah, and Nixie. They're new." Cap said.

"Hey. Uh, what's with the gloves? It's pretty hot." He asked, pointing to the elbow high blue gloves I was wearing.

"Hi." We both said. I, again, ignored the question.

"I told them I would introduce them to a few people since they didn't know anyone. Were gonna go say hi to Annabeth next. Wanna come?" Cap asked.

"Sure." He said, putting a bookmark in his book, setting it on his unmade bed, and walked out the door.

When we got to cabin 6, Percy knocked. A girl with curly blonde hair answered the door. Her gray eyes were sparkling, and her ponytail was loose. Wisps of hair were dangling in front of her face. She went cross eyes as she looked at the hairs, and pushed them out of her face.

"Oh! Percy! I was just about to come find you. I need your help on a project I've been working on." She said with a smile.

"Sure, in a second. Annabeth, this is Nixie and her sister Kliyah." Percy said, stepping to the side to reveal us, and Cap.

"Hi! Nice to meet you." She said with a small wave and a smile.

"Well, I guess I'll see you guys later. Bye." Percy said as he and Annabeth went inside and closed the door.

"What does she need help with?" Nixie asked.

"She doesn't. She just wants him to THINK, he's helping. She's working on a place for Rachel. You'll meet her after we see Leo. Come on!" Cap replied, grabbing both our hands, and dragging us away.


When she finally stopped, we were in front of a cabin that looked like one of those metal trailers without wheels. When Cap knocked on the door, a girl with a milky brown braid answered.

"Hey Nalayia. Is Leo here?" She asked.

"Nope. He's down at the forge alone. Again." She said.

"Thanks." Cap replied, and we started walking to the forge.


This time, I knocked on the door. A male voice said, "Coming."

A guy with torn jeans, a dirty greasy white shirt, curly brown hair, elf ears, and an oil smudged face, opened the door. He looked over at Capitola, then straight at me.

"Leo, this is..." Cap looked from Leo to me. "Oh, uh this is Kliyah and Nixie. They're new." She said, but he was still looking at me. "Leo." She said. She grabbed his shoulders, shook him, and yelled his name.

"Huh, what? Oh, hey." He said, finally looking at Cap.

"I just came to introduce the new comers." She said. "Were about to go see Rachel. Wanna come? We seem to be picking up and dropping off a lot of people today."

With a smile he shut the door. "Sure."


"Rachel must be a weird person if she lives in a cave." Nixie said.

"She's not weird. She's the Oracle." Cap said, pushing aside the purple curtain and peering in. "Rachel?" She called.

"Yes? Come in." A girl said.

When we walked in, I saw a girl in jeans and a green t-shirt that were both splattered with paint, but she wasn't painting. She was reading.

"Hey Rachel! This is Kliyah and Nixie, they're new." She said as she looked back at Leo. "The elf decided to tag along."

"Hey!" He said.

All of a sudden, Rachel dropped her book. Green smoke started creeping out of her mouth like snakes, and her eyes turned green.

"The Fosters Shall go,
With five to follow,
But only four will survive,
With sisters and the Prize." She said in a voice that wasn't hers.

When she went back to normal, she started to fall but Leo and Capitola caught her and set her in a chair.

"Wh-What was that?" Asked Nixie.

"A Prophecy." Cap answered. "Though, it was kinda confusing, but prophecies are never clear. Fosters and sisters, kind of like foster sisters. But we don't have any foster sisters, unless....." She looked back at us.
