Time's Daughter

Into the Past

Angel sighed. Wiping her paint stained fingers on her overalls. Her hair was braid back and pined up so as to say 'safe'. It never worked though and she ended up with paint all over her.
She hooked the Camera into the stand, and clicked a few buttons. Tested the sound and made sure the camera's few was correct.
She paused a moment before pressing play. She should probably clean her room, before she recorded the video. Then she shrugged. A few undergarments wouldn't scar anyone under the age of 15, and as she was already 21 she doubted anyone would still be a minor when this video was actually needed. She pressed Record.
[Nico bit his lip, as he saw Angel's image pop up on the screen. She was so young, a bit different than he knew her. She was even smaller in the video, if such a thing was possible. He smiled at the sight of her paint covered overalls and the messy room behind her. Clothes everywhere and posters plastered to the walls.]
"Hey, Layla," Angel started. "Though I suppose this could be to someone else, though. A future boyfriend, maybe?"
"Highly unlikely!" shouted a voice from outside in the hall.
"Screw you! Aaron!" snapped Angel.
Aaron opened the door and poked his head in. "Ew," he said. "First of all, twins, second of all, you're a girl. You know I'm gay!"
["I didn't know Angel had a gay twin," said Percy. "Or a twin for that matter. When can I meet him?"
"He's dead," said Nico and Layla in unison.]
Angel laughed as Aaron asked her what she was doing. "Making a video for the future."
"What future?" he asked. "You on the streets?"
"Ha ha," she laughed sarcastically.
"Besides you're room is a mess, you absolutely cannot make a video for some future person, with your room like this."
Angel looked slightly terrified. "Please don't," she said. "You go too far."
"Move aside, gay maid coming through!"
"LEAVING!" Angel's brown eyes showed horror for a moment, then her hand went to for the camera as she pressed pause and left the room.
When the camera's image came back her room was practically sparkling, and organized by every known thing possible. Aaron stood proudly in the center of the frame.
"I must show off my talents," he said, taking the camera from Angel's hands and giving them a display with a lengthy commentary. Until finally he turned back to Angel who was slouching at her desk, doing a massive multitude of things on her crazy set.
["Her desk is worthy of Leo's," muttered Jason. "How is she able to do so much?"
"She's never liked being bored," replied Layla. "So she makes sure she's always business."
"I quite like her outfit though," whispered Percy.
"Do you like your head?" asked Nico quietly.]
Angel was wearing a crop top with shorts and suspenders that were especially colorful. Her hair was still braided but it wasn't pinned to her head and she had her reading glasses on as she did...something...at her desk.
Basically Angel's desk--went a little something like this: A desktop computer with two monitors. One focused on what might have been a paper, the other on a social media site, with fifty other tabs open. A laptop also existed, put slightly off to the side, with Netflix open to Supernatural. An Xbox was connect to a slightly small tv, bolted to the wall next to her monitors. It was paused on some unknown game. A tablet sat with a book open and her phone was right next to her hand, ready for interaction.
She noticed Aaron had stopped talking at paused netflix. "You done?" she asked. "I have a serious video to make."
He smile and nodded, handing the camera to her, pausing it. When the screen opened again, Angel was sitting in the same place as before, her reading glasses had been taken off.
"Okay, Layla," she said. "Sorry about the interruption, but you know how Aaron gets."She sighed and bit her lip. Almost as if she were afraid of what was about to happen. "It's going to happen again," she said finally. "The Morrigan will come back. I don't know exactly when, though. I just know it's going to happen. I has to. I survived the process the first time. I was the only one of Athaliah's hosts to survive." Her eyes glistened in fear. "The reason Athaliah even has hosts, if because she's trying to escape Kuro. No, I'm not sure who Kuro is yet. But Athaliah is terrified of him. I assume it's because he's more powerful than she is. She says they're siblings, but I don't think that's sure. I think there something more to their relationship. But for some reason she's hiding from in inside humans. Only thing is, Kuro can sense her power. So she waits, and once they right the right time, or whatever is it that Athaliah chooses, she gives them her power. I mean, technically, they already had it. But Athaliah is the embodiment of time, there is a lot of power in time. She holds some of it back. But this power is too much for humans. Time is too strong for humans to control. They go insane, from everything they can see. And believe me they see everything. Most people killed themselves." She paused, hugging herself slightly. "I didn't have the courage to though," she whispered, her voice as quiet as a mouse. "I was too afraid of the thought of dying. Of leaving everyone I love alone."
[Nico tense form loosened as she said that. Of course she would say that. Angel was never really one to hate so easily. Sure she acted like it, a lot. But Angel loved everyone around her deeply. As her brown eyes looked through the camera, he was almost certain, they were looking through time at him.]
"So I shut down," she continued. "I gave up, and let my subconscious control my body." She smiled awkwardly at the camera. "But apparently my subconscious is a mass murder. Who knew?"
[Percy looked at Nico. "And you sleep with this person?"
Nico shrugged. "She knows some pretty interesting things, when we get behind closed doors," he said slyly with a crooked smile.]
"When I do become the Morrigan again, Layla," Angel said pointedly. "There is something you have to do." She took a while to say the next part, biting down on her nails, nervously. She looked dead into the camera. "You have to remind me why I need to live. Why I need to wake up. Why I can't just sit there and let a mass murder take control. Only then will you have a chance of killing me."
[An astonished silence filled the room. None of them could believe what she just said. Layla played it back a few times, just to make sure.
Nico shook his head. Utter denial written on his face. "No she can't expect me to do that! I absolutely refuse!" he snapped. "I am not going to kill her."
"Who said you have to do it," asked Percy very quietly.
The air grew still with power in the room. "You lay a finger on her," snarled Nico. "I will cut you down."
"She has the power to destroy the world in a heartbeat," said Percy, calmly. "We can't let her keep killing like this."
"And if it were Annabeth, Percy?" asked Nico. "If it were Annabeth rampaging across the planet, would you still be so willing to kill her."
Percy didn't answer. For moment, the room filled in silence, then: "There is still more of the video," Layla said. "There may be something useful."]
Angel's voice was shaking in the last part. "There might be someone objecting to the thought of killing me to save the world," she said, fighting back tears. "But I'm not sure anything else to do. I don't know everything. I don't know exactly what Kuro wants. Nor do I know why Athaliah is running from him. If I knew these things then maybe, I could do something about it. But I don't. Nor, do I think I ever will." She stared into the camera, her face suddenly fierce. "But maybe you can find out."
