Time's Daughter

A Whole New World

I was precariously close to dying by the time they let me go. My vision was cloudy and blotted with black spots. I was vaguely aware of them passing straight through solid rock, a three-headed dog, and black palace.
They dropped me rather rudely in front to two people, in what looked like a throne room. I coughed some much adding to the red mess on my chest.
One of the figures in front of me ran towards me, for a moment, I have no idea who it is, until a see his brown eyes laced with worry. It's Nico di Angelo. I cough more. "What's going on Nico?" I ask, barely.
He doesn't seem to hear. His attention is on the creatures that brought me in. "What happened to her?" he asked.
"Cyclops attack," says a hissing voice. "She was nearly crushed to death."
Nico looks back to me, his hand presses down my ribs. Pain rages in my chest. I scream out in pain and punch him away from me. "Are you insane?" I scream at him.
I looks at me wildly, I smile when I realize he thought I was too injured to do anything. I scramble to my feet, holding my ribs. "If you want to know that damage," I say. "You can just ask. It's several broken ribs, and least half, and a punctured lung."
Nico blinks and looks to the figure on the throne. He hasn't moved since I got here. "How do you know?" asked Nico.
I grin as best as I can through the pain. "Cause I've punctured a lung before." Pain works its way through my body, I double over, crashing to my knees. I cough blood all over the floor. Nico rushes to my side. "Hemorrhaging," I choke. "Not good."
Nico looks the figure on the throne again. "Please, Father," he begs. "Help her!"
The man steps down from the throne. "I told you if you spent too much time with a mortal, they'd be in danger," he said, walking towards the door. "This is your fault."
I reach for my purse. There is something I keep in there for emergencies. Nico says his man can help, and I have no intention of dying anytime soon. I pull a silver revolver out of my purse with a single fluid motion, firing a bullet only an inch from the man's head.
He turns to look at me. A smile is on his face. He points to the wall, where the bullet was currently embedded. "Did you just--?" He seems to be in a sort of giddy surprise. "A don't think a mortal had ever dared to try and shoot me before."
A smile back, my thumb cocking another bullet. "It won't be the last," I tell him. "Can you help me or not?"
The man strode back towards me. "Oh, believe me girly," he says. "I can, but that doesn't mean I will."
"My name is Angel!" I snarl, shooting at the floor barely missing him again.
He walks right up to me, bending down to my level (I can no longer stand), and grabs my hair, pulling me up a bit farther. I growl and shove the gun barrel under his chin cocking yet another bullet. We stay like that for a moment, then he laughs and drops me, getting to his feet.
He pats Nico on the back. "You know," he says. "I like her! I think I might heal her!"
He places his hand on my forehead. Pain sears through my entire body. I scream and then black out.
I woke up in a dark room. The only light in the room came from eerie green torches on each wall. I looked around. I was alone, at the moment.
I was laying in a california king size bed, with black silk sheets. The mattress was soft and luxurious, and I'd never had something so nice and I had no intention of ever leaving that bed. I rolled over and buried my face in the softness of the pillow.
Just then, Birdy's song Tee Shirt started to play.
My eyes fly open. That's Kimmi's ringtone. I scramble towards the sound pulling my phone out of my bag by the bed on the floor. I answer it. "Where are you?" asks Kimmi, sounding annoyed, but excited. "You so didn't come home last night." Her tone changed to flirty. "You two didn't go that far did you?"
"WHAT!" I scream. "NO! DON'T YOU DARE GO THERE!" Laughter erupts on the other side of the phone.
"I know," Kimmi giggles. "But I do want to know where you are." Her tone changes again, this one more concerned. "I was worried."
I smile. "I know, Kimmi," I tell her. "But I'm fine now."
Silence. "You're fine now? As in you weren't fine before?" I don't say anything. "I knew it! You were in trouble!"
"It's all right, now," I told her. "I promise, Nico helped me, and I'm all good."
"Angel, what happened last night?"
I sigh. "Honestly, Kimmi?" I say. "I don't know, but I'm going to find."
Kimmi giggled. "You're still with him aren't you?"
I growl and hang up. Moments later I receive a text alert.
Play nice!
-K
I laugh, then get up. There are clothes in a closet, but it's clear that they are Nico's. It dawns on me, that I was sleeping in his room. "Lucky, bastard," I mutter, pulling out his clothes. I would say hope he doesn't mind but I think we all know I wouldn't care if he did.
Before I can open the door, Nico walks in. He stares at me for a while, wearing his clothes, as a slow smile forms on his face. He had a bag on doughnuts with him. "I brought break--ugh!" That last part was because I punched him in the gut.
I walked back to the bed and sat down with my arm folded and my face stony. "Answers."
He held up the bag of doughnuts. "Can we eat first?" he asked.
I snatched the bag and pulled out a doughnut. "Talk, then maybe I'll let you eat." I grin up at him.
"Oh come on I'm hungry!" he protests, trying (and failing) to prevent the smile from coming to his face.
I hold on my foot, preventing him from coming near as I roll over and eat a doughnut. "I'm sorry who nearly died last night when they were attacked by a mythical creature from ancient Greece?"
He stopped for a moment. "You know what the Cyclops was?"
"I read a lot," I mutter. "Explain!"
I tried to reach for another doughnut, explaining as I held it out of his reach and grabbed another. "The greek gods are real, my father is Hades, and you are in his palace in the Underworld."
I hold the last doughnut over his head as I stood on his headboard. "How in the world did I get cell reception down in the land of dead?"
He jumps for it pulling me down as he lost his balance as he fell. We collapsed on the bed. "You're taking this well," he said, finally managing to eat the doughnut.
I grin. "I used to see things differently from others ever since I was a child."
He nodded. "You mentioned cell reception?"
"I got a phone call from Kimmi, she's worried, and I have a class this afternoon," I tell him. "So as much as I would love to stay, I must ask for a ride to the land of the living, ghost boy."
"Ghost boy?" he asks, smiling.

Notes

sorry it took so long, the holiday caught up with me and I was also working on my other two stories (Children of Hades and Songs of the World). Also--I was watching Mr and Mrs Smith today---I actually had an idea of turning it into a Percabeth story...should I? or has that already been done?
