Ashes

Isaac's POV:



"Anna should be here by now," Reyna said, pacing my mother's old living room. The floorboards creaked under her weight.

"She said she'd be out telling her friends not to worry when she's gone. She has a lot of friends," I reasoned. "Same with Isaac." I sat on the old, vegetation covered couch.

"It's been almost a day, and New Rome is only an hour away. It does not take that long. She has 10 close friends and 20 regular friends. Even that isn't enough to take a while day." She paused a moment. "Especially Allen. He isn't as... popular as Allen." She sat down next to me and held my hand.

"look, of they take any more time," I said, kissing her head. "Then I'll go down and fetch them." Reyna put her head on my shoulders.

"I'll go check on them now," She said, sitting up and grabbing her dagger that lay on an old wooden table by the couch.

"What do you mean you're going now?" I said, jumping up off of the couch.

"I'll go alone, Isaac. I can handle myself."

"And what if you get ambushed by the Greeks? Or monsters?"

"Do you honestly think they could take me?" She questioned.

"Yes, I Do! Even I've been losing my skill a bit. I'm going with you." Reyna opened the creaking door.

"Stay here." She commanded.

"No!" I yelled, putting my foot in the door, making it unable to close

"Isaac! " She said, stepping back in. "What I'd they show up here?"

"Then they'll know to wait for us!"

"I can't believe you right now, " She said, walking out the door into the tall grass.

" Reyna! " I yelled, stepping out of the doorway. Reyna!" She kept walking. Her Purple shirt and skinny jeans flew in the wind with the grass. "Oi," I said, grabbing my dog tags and heading out the door following my arrogant wife.

I caught up to her a few minutes later.

"Reyna, I-" She turned around and slapped me. "Would you honestly put my protection over your two children?" She said coldly, standing in the grass defiantly.

I held my cheek. "if they are at Camp Jupiter, then there is no need risking your life!"

"And what if they aren't? What if they're on their way here right now, but you were to arrogant to stay behind and wait for them?"


"Shut it!" I said, pushing Reyna in an act of agression. She stared at me incredulously, regaining her balance. I looked down at my hands, noticing what I had done.

"Reyna, I-"

"Get away from me, Isaac." She said defiantly, walking away in the grass. "Don't come near me again."
