Zoe's POV

With the sword in my hand,I head to the Poseidon cabin and pack the few things I brought into a Camp Half-Blood duffel bag.I slip the tiny box under my clothes.I sling the sword over my shoulders and go to the battle arena to train before we leave.I drop the duffel bag against a pillar and,not wasting time,swing the sword to see how many times it takes to cut off a dummy's head.
I get tired after a few minutes and sit next to my duffel bag to drink water.As I sit there,I think about the kiss,until Dawn walks up next to me.She slings an identical duffel to the ground and says,"Wanna duel?"
I shade my eyes and look up at her.She holds up a sword.I look down and grab my sword."Sure."
We stand opposite each other.
Then we start.
She swings,rushing at me.I hold up the blade and deflect her swing.She doesn't give up and swings around to hit me in the back.I whirl,too slow to dodge,and kick her in the shin.She drops the sword and howls in pain.I roll and pick up her sword,pointing both at her.She holds up her hands in submission.
I hand her the sword and help her up.She looks at me warily,like she expects me to break out with some ninja moves next.I sit down and toss her a bottle of water.She sits down next to me.

Matthew's POV

I leave the Big House and walk to the Hypnos cabin.On the way there,I see Zoe beating Dawn in a swordfight at the arena and smile.I enter the Hypnos cabin and throw my stuff into a duffel bag.
I approach the battle arena and see Zoe and Dawn sitting together.I walk up and say,"Time to go."
They stand up and we walk to the hill,where Argus waits for us in a strawberry-transporting vehicle.We clamber in and sit down among crates of fruit.Argus takes us to the highway and drops us off.
We hitchhike until we see a motel on the side of the road,we stop and pay and fall asleep instantly.
In the morning,I'm awakened by a warmth against my chest.I open my eyes and see Zoe's head resting on my bare chest.She's still asleep.I put my arms around her.Her eyes flicker open.She smiles and kisses me."Good morning," She whispers.
"Good morning," I whisper back.She closes her eyes and nestles her head on my shoulder.I kiss her forehead and pull the blanket up.I fall asleep.

Dawn's POV

PAAAAAAARRRRRRPP!
I jerk awake to a loud ringing in my ears.I curse and slam the pillow over my head to no avail.The sound penetrates the cloth.I curse again and throw the pillow across the room.I fling back the covers and get dressed.I jerk open the door.Matthew's standing there with bags under his eyes.He points at the roof.I step out and see a bell ringing not fifty feet away from us.
I grab my bag and march to the stairs.He nods without arguing and picks up his bag from Zoe and his room.Zoe walks out toting her bag,her usually springy hair a mess.
We leave without paying and catch a bus.We get on it and sit in one 3-person seat.In front of us,an elderly couple,behind us,some boys that probably hadn't hit puberty yet.
We went past one stop,two stops.We got off when we hit Manhattan.We walked and I noticed the boys from the bus were following us.I whispered to Zoe,"Monsters on our tail."
She nodded like she was expecting it."Follow me." She says and turns down a side street.We come out on the next street and double back.We turn right and start running down the block.
We hail a cab two blocks over to take us over the bridge.
We pay and get out on the border of Manhattan and New York city.
The boys are still following us.
We turn down an alley and wait to ambush the monsters.
They do.Matthew swings and takes off one's head,which falls and crumbles.The other two's disguises burn away.They're revealed to be…Gorgons!
Matthew turns his attention to the one in the middle,which snarls at me and jumps before Matthew slices off it's neck in midair.Zoe manages to slice off the third gorgons legs.It falls and Zoe kicks it in the face.It tries to crawl away before Zoe slices through its chest.Each gorgon crumbles away.
The one in the middle leaves behind a piece of paper that looked like a map.Matthew picked it up.It had three stars over America.The first one was a city called Chicago,in Illinois.Zoe smiled when she looked over Matthew's shoulder.
"Well," She said,"Now we know where we're supposed to go."
