Right before the monster jumped on us, a boy leaped in front of it and swung a sword through its neck. He kicked the head down the alley, eye still open, and turned to us.

"What are your names?" He demanded.

"Z..Zia," I said, still frozen with fear. I stared at the decapitated body of the monster, with a scared look on my face.

"I'm Zoe," Zoe said, gazing at the boy's face. She looked interested in him. I shot a glare at her to snap her out of it, but it didn't seem to be working.

"Nice to meet you, Zia and Zoe. Now co-"
His sentence was cut short. He raised his eyes to something behind me casting a large shadow.

"Hey, why is it so dark all of a sudden?" I asked. The thing behind me growled and Zoe and I slowly turned around. I jumped about ten feet but didn't scream. A blue-skinned giant was standing there, club in hand.

It lifted one foot and brought it down, cracking the pavement. It swung its club, nearly missing me. But the force was enough to slam me into the side of a building. I slumped towards the ground as Zoe rushed toward me, calling my name. Everything was blurry and the edges of my vision started to go black. The last thing I remembered was the boy running toward the giant, swinging his sword in anger.

I woke up in a bed, head still dizzy. I had a massive headache. Zoe was sitting next to me, reading a book. When I raised my head slightly, she closed the book and asked me if I was okay.

"Not really," I replied. "Where are we?"

"Camp Half-Blood," she said, smiling. "It's amazing.There's so much for you to see."

I stood up, grabbing the side of the bed to keep myself from toppling over. I looked around. There were a couple of beds, but none of them were occupied. I went out of the room slowly and down a hallway. Zoe followed me without a word. I went out the door and onto the porch.

On the left, strawberry fields covered most of the grounds. On the right, a gorgeous beach circled the perimeter. Between those, about 12 or so cabins were there. A huge rock wall spouting lava and a battle arena stood. And strewn all over, people ranging from ages 9 to 18.
I took in the view and gasped. A centaur clopped up beside me.

"I'm glad to see you're awake.You have a lot to learn."

My eyes grew wide. Zoe didn't seem the least bit surprised that a half-man, half-horse had just talked to me.

"Hi Chiron." Zoe said.

"Hello, Zoe," Chiron said. "May I request that you tell your sister what you know?"

"Sure, I'll tell her. Zia, you know about Greek mythology, right?"

I nodded. We had studied them in school together.

"And how the gods would have children with mortals?" I nodded again. I suspected where this was going.

"Well....all those Greek myths are true. The gods did have children with mortals.And they still do, in fact. See all those people?" she said, gesturing to the people I had seen. "They're all half human and half god. The official term is demigod. And those cabins? Each cabin belongs to a god. That's where the campers sleep, depending on who their godly parent is. Here, demigods learn how to survive and fight the monsters in the mortal world. And guess what?"

I smiled. I already knew.

"We're demigods, too."
