Luna

The thick pine tree branches whip at my face, and the wind lashes my hair around, making it hard to see. Ni ran forwards, straight through the trees. Honestly, I'm scared. It's dark, the thick foliage makes it hard to see, and the sound of a waterfall somehow creeps me out.
"Don't worry," Ni says to me, "We're only about ten minutes away."
"Good." I reach into my pocket, trying to warm up my freezing hands, when I feel something. It feels like a small knife. I quickly take it out of my pocket. I had never put it there. "Hey, Ni, by any chance, did you put a knife in my pocket?" He turns his head to look at me.
"No..." He seems slightly weirded out.
"Forget what I just said." I say, trying not to make it awkward. He laughs.
All of a sudden, the waterfall noise gets louder. I feel Ni's body tense, and he starts to run faster. "Ni, what's wrong?"
That's when I giant serpent falls out of the sky.
"That's whats wrong!" He yells. Only now do I realize that that waterfall noise wasn't waterfall noise. It was hissing.
Ni dodges the giant serpent-creature thingy as it strikes at him with it's pointy teeth. Fear courses through my body. "We're almost there!" Ni yells.
Then the serpent falls out of the sky.
Well, not really. This time, he only jumped. But it looked like falling. It strikes at Ni, and it's teeth bounce harmlessly off his skin. Now, I remember his whole story. Apparently Heracles killed him (by strangle) when he started murdering innocent villagers. His skin was harder than steel, and no sword or arrow could pierce it.
I guess giant serpent fangs can't either.
The serpent lunges again, this time at me. It knocks me off Ni. You see, Ni is going high speed, which is probably about 80 KM/h (I'm Canadian.) , so it really FREAKING hurts when I get thrown into the trees. My back hits a tree, and I really feel the pain in my tailbone. I cry out in pain. The serpent slithers towards me, and I feel paralyzed, until I remember my knife. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Ni running towards me, but he's still far away and won't make it in time.
This time, I'll have to save myself.
I let the serpent run at me, pretending to be extremely weak. I clutch the handle of my knife numbly, my fingers freezing and stinging. Time seems to slow down as the serpent opens his mouth wide, his face feet from mine.
I throw.
The knife lodges itself deep inside of it.
The serpent hesitates slightly before exploding into a pile of dust.
Then, everything goes black
