Dust and Gold
How am I not freaking out?
I walked up to the red-ish brown cabin and knocked on the door. It just swung open on it's own.
I stood there taking in the image before me. Now there's over-packed, and then there's the Hermes cabin overpacked. It was so full of kids I was literally ready to turn around and sprint back into those woods, which now I knew was full of scary things other than bears and... owls. Eugh words cannot describe my fear towards owls.
So yeah, let me get back to describing 'Hermes cabin overpacked'. Theres were kids literally everywhere, as in sleeping bags were everywhere, so yeah, I think you got the image of how many kids are staying in that cabin.
A loud bell rang, all the kids got up and walked out towards this open area with tables and benches. I followed.
Everyone seemed organized, because well it seemed that most of the kids that looked alike sat together.
The kids with scorch marks and coal marks on them all sat at one table, and all the blonde kids with gray eyes sat at another. So I guess the tables were seperated the same way the cabins were, by godly parent.
Chiron came and found me before the cabin I was put into sat down at there packed table.
I followed him to the table he was sitting at with a man which I soon learned was Quintus, the camp's swordsmanship class instructor.
He introduced me to the camp, and while I sat there akwardly as everyone stared at me. I noticed that there were some empty tables, and then there was the table Percy sat at, alone.
So apparently the Poseidon cabin faced the oppisite problem the Hermes cabin did.
Once Chiron finished saying stuff I didn't hear, he softly pushed me to the Hermes table.
There I met:
Connor and Travis Stoll, the Co-Head Counselors of the Hermes cabin, and some other kids which I forgot their names. I was exausted, don't blame me.
Travis told me he'd 'snatch' a sleeping bag and some stuff from the camp store for me. I'm pretty sure he meant steal.
Let me tell you something though, the food of this camp, is the best. It's THE best food EVER.
Barbeque ribs? YES!
Magic cups that all you have to do is say the drink you want and it appears? YES!!!
Giving part of me food to the parent that abandoned me? Nope, I did not want to do that.
I said a little prayer in my head to whoever was listening. 'Please claim me, being stuck in the Hermes cabin scares me'. I know that's disrespectful towards Hermes but it's true, I don't want to be stuck in a cabin full of thieves and tricksters. I might wake up on a boat in the middle of the lake with my socks and shoes missing!!!
You never know!
My plate quickly emptied and I patted my full belly, even though I couldn't get comfortable because I was half sitting on air. So yeah.
Since it was lunch time we had tons of activities to get to, which I was scared to do.
"First on the list," Connor said. "Wall climbing."
"Well that can't be too hard right?" I asked. He laughed and pointed at the wall we were going to climb. "I'm not climbing that,"
Yet somehow I ended up climbing it, and suprizingly: I DIDN'T DIE!
I guess I should be cheering, I barely even got injered. Climbing trees practically my whole life seemed to actually help me for once!
Now on to the next activities!
Let's say, I am NOT looking forward to living here for the rest of my life...
