Dust and Gold

Percy was surrounded, 3 scorpions all chasing him.
If it was me I'd completely freak out, but this was Percy, at first he attempted to fight them, but then he kinda gave up and tried to cram himself and Annabeth into a small crack.
But before Percy could even try to fit into the crack, they fell into a hole and disappeared. The scorpions now, with no powerful kids to pinch, turned their attention to us.

"You stay here and sip some of this" Alexia said while handing me a flask of something. "I'll handle this" Alexia got up, grabbed her 2 long celestial bronze swords and ran to the scorpions.

I really cannot describe what I saw...
I knew Alexia had been at the camp for many years (she told me), but I never had realized how well she could fight.

A slash here, ninja dodge there, occasional almost getting killed by a scorpion pretty much everywhere. Suddenly a scorpion explodes into dust. I took a drink of the contents of the flask Alexia gave me, it tasted like cheesburgers... my body was filled with a warm feeling and I immediately felt better. A scorpion must of heard me sigh and turned it's attention to me.
Alexia was too busy fighting the other one to notice, with a shaky hand I grabbed my sword and got up, I grabbed a vine that was hanging from a tree nearby me and ran. Ignoring the slight throbing in my leg.

My plan, you ask?
Well I was unsure how but I was gonna ride that scorpion.
Then I noticed how sharp the end of it's tail was, and I stopped in my tracks, because if I hadn't I would of been impaled right then.
I scrambled onto it's tail, the scorpion was now moving it's tail around rapidly, but I had a strong hold on it and started climbing towards it's torso, grabbing the wrapped gift that was hanging from it's stinger.
I managed somehow to get the vine around it's foaming mouth and I could control it as if it was a horse.
It was still fighting, just less.
If you are thinking: Cool, I WANNA RIDE A WILD SCORPION!
No, it is not cool, have you ever ridden those bull things at the local fair where they TRY to throw you off?
This was about 6 bagillion times harder.
Suddenly I hear a donkey.
What the heck?
"Callie!!!" I turn my head around and spot Tyson entering the clearing from the woods. The scorpion saw them too. It threw me off and headed straight towards them. I landed about 4 meters away from Alexia, who was on this other side of the clearing.
Tyson panicked, he fell back and by accidentally sat on his half donkey friend.
And then... I heard a girl with a rough voice.
"Guess the new girl couldn't handle a scorpion, eh?" She said in a mean tone.
"You try ridding that thing! You'd be thrown off in seconds." I spat back.
The girl huffed, she took her sword out of it's shaft and ran to the scorpion that I was riding, with 3 hits it was monster dust.
Tyson had gotten up off of Grover (I found out his name because Tyson said it) and still looked a little panicked.
Clarisse was running to the other scorpion that Alexia was fighting, this scorpion seemed much bigger and more aggressive than the other 2 put together, and on it's stinger was a gold pouch, unlike the rest that had red pouches.
It hit me, the winner is the one who retrieves the golden one.
I ran "ALEXIA, YOU GOT TO GET THE GOLD POUCH OF IT'S STINGER SO WE CAN WIN!" I shouted.
Alexia turned to me and winked. Then she pushed herself of the ground and on to the thing's tail, and she was now climbing towards the stinger.
Right before she reached the stinger, the scorpion became dust, Clarisse ran to the pile and picked up a little gold pouch.
"Yeah!" Clarisse exclaimed while giving a high-five to her teammate.
Alexia came to me.
"Good job, Callie." She said smiling.
"You're not upset that we lost?" I asked
"Nope not at all!" She said with a small giggle at the end of her sentence.
"Did you see Percy leave or something?" Alexia asked me.
"Nope, last I saw he fell into that hole," I answered.

I enjoyed writing this chapter, and I'm probably going to try and fit more action scenes into this book :D
