Half Gone

In a Dream

Leighanne Turnson watched as her photographer scrambled around trying to get the best angle of her beautiful face, she knew she was flawless she flaunted it every chance she had. The sound of a crash startled her from her self-dedicated thoughts, the light system had been knocked down by what seemed to be a snarling dog.
"Why in the hell is there a dog here?" She screamed. "I'm allergic! Get it off set!" Her brain hadn't processed that said dog was three times her size. She glared at the terrified photographer who had been knocked to the ground. The dog snarled and launched itself at her, she screamed and threw up her hands in a feeble attempt to protect her face from the claws. A loud whimper and lone howl pierced the room, Leighanne looked up after a moment and saw a young man and girl standing before her. The girl was small and lithe looking, the boy was tall and thin with long black hair that fell over his eyes. He was clutching a black sword in his pale hand, a heavy looking skull ring adorned his hand. The British model looked at him incredulously, her venomous tone leaking out "Who the hell invited you onto MY shoot?"
"You're not safe here."
The boy grabbed her by the upper arm and dragged her off set. She kicked and screamed the entire way out in her Gucci heels.

"She complains a lot." The brunette girl said as Leighanne nagged about how he'd ruined the heels of 900.00$ boots.
"Shut up you Plain Jane." Leighanne bit sharply.
"Watch it, bitch." The American girl said.
"Stop it, both of you." The good looking boy said giving the two females an irritated look. "Kray, don't make her angrier than she has to be."
"Well, if she didn't bitch about every little thing I wouldn't care."
"You're just a jealous little bitch, with that face I could understand why."
"Watch it, Miss. Priss. You're so fucking lucky I don't have a weapon, you'd be a dead bitch."
"Shut up!" The boy yelled.
'Kray' looked at him and said "Sorry, can we just go. Where are we going next?"
"We have to go to Cody, Wyoming."
"What do you mean 'we'? I'm not going anywhere with you!" Leighanne yelled at them.

Kray bit the inside of her cheek, she felt uneasy with this girl. She was watching Nico like a piece of meat, Kray felt slightly jealous. She hadn't know Nico long but she found him interesting and attractive, something about Leighanne wanting him, pissed her off. She found herself glaring out the window of the train as the blonde flirted constantly with the only boy. Her 'flawless' British accent pissed Kray off, it was effortlessly beautiful.
"Your hair is so soft!" Leighanne said running her tanned fingers through Nico's messy black hair. Kray felt a pang in her stomach, she took a deep breath then turned to look at Nico.
"When can I call my mother?"
He looked away from the ogling blonde and to Kray, "Well, I would say after we get to camp."
"Camp?" Leighanne asked, a note of disgust in her voice. She then covered it up and said "Will you help me with archery?" Her voice raising an octave.
Kray rolled her eyes and returned to her irritated window staring, she heard Nico cough uncomfortably.

They arrived in Cody, Wyoming the snow was a soft white blanket on the ground. Kray looked around with a smile "It's beautiful here." She admired.
"Oh please." Leighanne sneered "I suppose simple minds are easily pleased."
"I agree with her, it's got a great view."
"That's totally what I meant." Leighanne said twirling her long blond hair around her finger, the Chanel earrings glittered in her ears. The entire outfit was designer, Kray was sure. Meanwhile said teen was wearing a Hogwarts jumper and her parka with a pair of ripped up black skinny jeans and her combat boots. Her glasses rested on the end of her nose precariously, she warmed her hands in her pockets. Ceder and pine trees were decorated with a heavy layer of snow on them, the caps of the mountains were white.
Leighanne was following Nico like a lost puppy, her eyes large and her lips pouted perfectly. He looked slightly distraught, Kray couldn't help but feel amused. He probably didn't know why she was doing this to him, he was stunningly attractive. Kray felt her face heat up at the thought, maybe she liked him a little bit. He'd stuck up for her countless times in the past 4 days with Leighanne.

Violet walked around town, her silver hair flowing around her shoulders, she stepped under and awning as the snow tried to bury her again. The weather was very extreme, she thought to herself. She managed to make it to her fathers store, he looked up and said "Ah, Violet. I'm glad you're here, we have some people that would like to speak to you." She raised a dark brow and followed her father, she smoothed out her baby pink coat over her black dress and entered the room. At the table there were three people seated in their kitchen; a blonde woman who looked like a fashion model, a rather normal looking girl with messy brown hair and large blue eyes that hinted that she was up to no good, and a tall, pale pale boy with long black hair and dark eyes half covered by his bangs. She waved slightly and the brunette girl waved back slightly. The boy gestured for her to sit down, Violet obligated and took a seat at the table next to her father. She looked across the table to the boy,
"What seems to be the matter, you look awfully grim for such a young man."
"Your father has given me his full permission to escort you to a place you'll be safe. I'm sure you're very confused and I'd be glad to answer any questions you might have."
"It's about my mother right? I had a dream, she spoke to me and told me that she's magical and that you'd be coming to train me to fight the forces of evil."

Nico was shocked by what the silver haired girl said to him, who was her mother?
"Did she say who she was?" He asked carefully studying her face for hints of lying.
"No, she didn't say anything about that. But she told me that you're Nico Di Angelo, Son of Hades."
"I see." He said slowly, he wasn't sure how to process this information. He looked over at Kray who was carefully studying the expressions of Mr. Kelly and Violet as well. Leighanne was off in her own little world, not paying attention to what was going on at all. Nico found himself accidentally staring at Kray. Her pale skin contrasted with the plum coloured wall behind her, the light freckles adorned her nose and cheeks. She caught is eye and smiled, he felt his face heat up. He didn't understand that reaction, he turned his gaze back to Violet. She smiled graciously at him,
"I'd love to accompany you." She said with a sweet smile on her her black painted lips.

"We'll stay here one night." Nico said as they made their beds out on the floor of the Kelly's living room. "We have to leave tomorrow morning on the train."
"We can have breakfast here though." Violet said with a slightly absent smile.
"We should be staying in a five star hotel." Leighanne complained loudly.
"You get an actual bed so shut the fuck up." Kray grumbled. Nico looked over at her, she looked tired. She was changed into some pajamas, her pale shoulder showed off by her large sweater that fell off them. Leighanne shot him a look that read 'Don't look at her, look at me.' Nico shrugged it off and returned to placing out his blankets in an orderly fashion, Kray seemed to be creating a cocoon off to his right. Leighanne rose from the sofa and said "I'm going to sleep." and left.
Violet looked over at Nico and asked "Is she always like that?"
"Yeah, always." Kray answered. "She's such a princess."
"Now that's not nice." Nico said trying to be levelheaded.
"But you aren't denying that it's true."

Violet fell asleep and heard the voice of her mother again
"Violet, my beautiful daughter. You are going to learn much during your time in the Half-blood training camp, but remember do not get to close to them. You will have to do my biding for me, always remember family comes before friendship. I am your mother, your life is owed to me. Behave at this camp, make them trust you. They are naive to the plan that is to come, enjoy your time."
Violet could hear herself reply "Yes mother, I will. But what is the plan you have to use me for?"
"That is to come my child." Her mothers voiced died away and she fell into a peaceful black slumber.
