Shouting
I listened to the sounds of shouting from the dining room as I leaned into Allen's chest.
"Shouldn't we go back in before they kill each other?" He asked, also listening to the sounds of our family fighting. Two months had passed but they were still at each other's throats about my pregnancy.
I shook my head. "I can't deal with them today just... let's stay here. Please?"
He pulled me tighter to him. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." I said quietly.
"What's wrong?" He asked again.
"Allen, please." My voice choked slightly and I cleared my throat. "Let's not do this today."
"Then when?" He asked.
"Later." I said. "I promise I'll tell you everything later."
"Okay." He whispered and kissed my forehead lightly. We were hiding in the dark of the living room on the sofa while our family shouted across the dining room table. We fell into silence.
"Your daughter corrupted our son! They shouldn't be having kids this young!" Reyna screamed.
"That's rich coming from you!" Leo yelled back.
"Everyone calm down!" My mum shouted.
"Shut up, lady!" Isaac told her. "That's my wife you're talking to!" Leo yelled.
"I might just go..." Myles said.
"Good idea. Isaac we're leaving!" Reyna said and there was the slamming of a door.
"Leo, you wait here." My mum said and the door to the living room opened. She frowned when she saw us sitting in the dark. "I'm sorry you two. I swear they mean well."
I smiled weakly. "Thanks, mum."
"Bye sweetie." She said and walked out the room.
"I might head to bed." Allen whispered. "Will you come?"
I shook my head and he kissed me goodnight before going to our bedroom. If I didn't sleep then I couldn't have nightmares.
