Serve me
I wrapped the coat tight around me as I walked quickly to the inner wall. I could see Allen chatting worriedly to his dad.
SERVE ME! The voice demanded inside my head and I bit back a sob.
"Allen!" I called and he spun around.
"Dove? What are you doing here? I told you to stay where you were safe." He said.
"I think I can help." I said. "But I need to ask your dad a few questions first to add into my calculations if that's alright, Mr Jenkins?"
The older man nodded. "Go ahead."
"How many strong is the legion exactly? Including veterans?" I heard the voice say, using my mouth like a vantriloquist's puppet.
Isaac answered me and the voice asked another question and another. What were our defenses like? How strong were the walls? What were our weapons like? I tried to hold back the sobs I felt threatening to take over my body and I managed to - just.
"Thank you. I'll try and get back to you with my plan once I've finished the calculations." I kissed Allen quickly on the cheek and walked as quickly as possible back to our house.
What was I doing?
What had I done?
